Catcher quintet among D-10 picks on all-state teams

Catcher was a popular position for District 10 when the 2013 all-state selections were announced Wednesday.

The Pennsylvania High School Baseball Coaches Association voted at least one catcher from the district into each of its four classes. Class AA had two, with North East’s Dawson Scotch listed on the first team and Saegertown’s Tyler Walters on the second team.

Lakeview’s Logan Snyder, a first team catcher, was the only district pick among the Class A honorees. Harbor Creek backstop Patrick Brennan was a first team choice in Class AAA and Brian Bohman a second team selection in Class AAAA.

Other district players cited by the association were Titusville pitcher Adam Bleday and Saegertown outfielder Austin Scere (AA first team); Mercyhurst Prep outfielder Ian Pertz (AA second team); Cathedral Prep infielder Ted DeSanti and outfielder Carter Cross (AAA second team) and McDowell infielder Matt Hansen (AAAA first team).
