Prep’s Fessler brothers to play in Big 26 Classic this weekend

Billy Fessler and Charlie Fessler, brothers who attend Cathedral Prep, are scheduled to compete in the Big 26 Baseball Classic starting Friday.

Billy Fessler, a 6-foot first baseman, will be a senior in the fall. Charlie Fessler, a 6-foot 4-inch outfielder, will be a junior. Also selected were Franklin junior-to-be pitcher Zach Guth and Meadville senior-to-be middle infielder Ted Williams.

The Pennsylvania players will face a team of Maryland all-stars in a three-game series today through Sunday at Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg. Pottsgrove’s Mike Welch will serve as the Pennsylvania team’s head coach.

Players statewide who completed their sophomore and junior seasons in the spring of 2103 were eligible to try out for the Big 26, which is baseball’s version to the Big 33 Football Classic.
