Parade of players to highlight Save-An-Eye halftime

Many players have taken part in the Save-An-Eye tradition of running/jumping through the oversized eyeglasses during introductions. On Friday, former all-stars will take part in a parade of players at halftime of the 75th all-star game.

As most Erie football fans now know, the 75th Save-An-Eye Game is scheduled for Friday night at Veterans Stadium.

One of the neat festivities this year will be the parade of former players on the field during halftime. Former Save-An-Eye players are urged to attend the game and participate in the halftime tribute. Players will be divided into decades and will then walk across the field.

The Save-An-Eye players banquet is scheduled for tonight. UPDATE: The players banquet has been sold out.

Of course, the City and County all-stars will meet in the annual all-star game Friday at 7 p.m. at Veterans Stadium. Game tickets at the gate will be $7.

As previously reported, an eight-person committee has produced a Save-An-Eye history book. Also, NFL Films is sending a crew to the game.
