Save-An-Eye Game lives up to milestone moment

An official attendance was not available Friday night, but the Veterans Stadium crowd at the 75th Save-An-Eye Game was estimated to be at least 6,000. The City won 17-13. ANDY COLWELL/Erie Times-News

Erie celebrated the 75th Erie Lion Club Save-An-Eye Game on Friday night, and the game lived up to the hype.

Although it was mostly a defensive struggle with a few turnovers, it was a closely matched, hard-hitting showdown that had plenty of big plays to thrill fans.

Check out full coverage of the game from the Erie Times News. John Dudley writes in his game story about the comebacks that took center stage and examines both the City offense and the halftime festivities in a Save-An-Eye notebook.

Fans also can take a look at — and purchase — photos from the big night with photographer Andy Colwell’s gallery and our Street View gallery.

Also, review the live blog from Friday’s game for play-by-play and commentary.

It certainly was an unforgettable evening.
