Jump Serve – Cambridge Springs

Cambridge Springs Blue Devils
Coach: John Turner (1st season)
2012 overall record: 7-8
2012 region record: 6-8 (fifth)
2012 playoff results: Did not qualify for the District 10 playoffs.
Top players lost: Renee Dalbec, Karlie Gaydos, Brittany Luikart
Top returning players: Jennae Shinski, Mackenzie Turner, Makayla Zilhaver, Karissa Welker, Camryn Schmidt, Karmen Davis, Paige Wolfrom
Outlook: Cambridge Springs will have another change at head coach. After having two co-head coaches in 2012, the Blue Devils will look for some stability with John Turner. He will have some talented players to replace after the graduation of Renee Dalbec, Karlie Gaydos and Brittany Luikart. Cambridge Springs will have some experience to turn to, including Jennae Shinski, Mackenzie Turner, Makayla Zilhaver, Karissa Welker, Camryn Schmidt and Karmen Davis. Shinsky is an all-region second-team middle-hitter for the Blue Devils, while Amanda White, Mackayla Kurt, Amanda Taylor and Kayla Parkin are new players to the varsity level that could step in and contribute right away this year. Paige Wolfrom is another all-region player back this season. Cambridge Springs is in a brutal region loaded with Crawford County powerhouses. The Blue Devils’ success this season will depend on how quickly they can adjust to a new coach and a new system.
