Erie Times-News Breakout Athletes of the Week nominees

Fans can vote for the Breakout Athletes of the Week on the top right corner of the page. Voting continues through Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. with the winners being featured in the Erie Times-News. Athletes who have won the award this season are no longer eligible. Fans are encouraged to nominate teams by 5 p.m. each Saturday.

Football
Jake Tarasovitch, McDowell – Threw for 129 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for 40 yards and one touchdown in a 38-14 win over Lancaster Catholic.
Logan Clarke, Mercer – Threw for 119 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-16 win over Kennedy Catholic.
Tyrin Peavy, Sharpsville – Scored two touchdowns and had 78 yards of total offense in a 19-7 win over Conneaut.
Chad Eisenhooth, Cochranton – Ran for 114 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries in a 32-21 win over Mercyhurst Prep.
Rob Wilston, Eisenhower - Threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns and ran for one in a 42-18 win over Iroquois.
Devin Walker, Cambridge Springs – Scored on all four of his carries totaling 125 yards in a 59-6 win over Youngsville.
Miller Peters, Maplewood – Carried the ball 13 times for 141 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-19 win over Union City.
DeQuan Lewis, Hickory – Scored three total touchdowns in a 42-6 win over Wilmington, including two on the ground and a 90-yard kickoff return.
Jordan Bryan, North East – Had 33 carries for 245 yards and two touchdowns in an 18-6 win over Harbor Creek.
Ben Kocan, Fairview – Had a hand in four touchdowns in a 38-26 win over Corry. He ran for three and hit Michael McCloy for a 24-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to secure a 38-26 win over Corry.
Tyler Sanders, General McLane – Had 27 carries for 206 yards and three touchdowns in a 31-21 win over Oil City.
Jake DeHart, Cathedral Prep – Ran for 141 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries in a 43-20 win over Lake Catholic (Ohio).
Jake Whitmer, Slippery Rock - Had 15 carries for 72 yards and two touchdowns in a 21-6 win over Central Tech.
Ryan Harkness, Meadville – Ran for 70 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime, in a 12-6 win over East.
Carnell Hawkins, Sharon – Had 10 carries for 226 yards and scored a total of five touchdowns in a 58-8 win over Titusville. He has 10 touchdowns in the past two weeks.
Blake Reddick, Lakeview – Ran for 308 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries in a 42-0 win over Franklin.

Boys soccer
Matt Schenberg, Saegertown – Scored both goals in a 2-1 win at Fort LeBoeuf. He also had a had trick in an 8-2 win over Strong Vincent.
Jason Aguire, Central Tech – Had four goals in a 9-0 win over Seneca. He also had two goals and three assists in a 13-2 win over Strong Vincent.
Zack Hershberger, Commodore Perry – Scored two goals in a 4-3 win over Sharon.
Zack Wainwright, Harbor Creek - Has not allowed a goal this season as the Huskies’ keeper. He had a 7-0 shutout against Iroquois this week before shutting down McDowell in a 4-0 win.
Eldin Sabic, McDowell – Finished with five goals in a 10-1 win over Strong Vincent.
Irad Castillo, Fort LeBoeuf – Scored two goals in a 3-1 win over Seneca.
Michael Spencer, Eisenhower – Had two goals in a 5-1 win over Titusville.
Ted Richards, Franklin – Finished with three goals and three assists in an 8-0 win over Oil City.
Dane Cessna, Meadville – Scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over General McLane.
Ben Forcier, Mercyhurst Prep - Picked up the shutout in goal in a 4-0 win over Warren.
Josh Schrecengost, Corry – Scored the winning goal in a 1-0 upset of General McLane. He also scored one goal in a 2-1 win over Iroquois.
Teddy Martin, Cathedral Prep – Had a hat trick in a 7-0 win over Fort LeBoeuf. He also had two goals in a 4-0 win over Warren.
Ben Jordan, Bradford – Scored four goals in a 6-2 win over DuBois.

Girls soccer
Katie Sundberg, Fairview - Scored two goals in a 9-0 win over Conneaut.
Amanda Sonney, Seneca – had two goals in a 3-0 win over Eisenhower. She also had one goal and one assist in a 2-0 win over Iroquois.
Courtney Herget, Iroquois – Scored four goals in a 5-0 win over North East.
Carolina Mashyna, McDowell – Had all three goals, including the game-winner in double overtime, as the Trojans knocked off Mt. Lebanon 3-2.
Dahlaney Sargent, Fort LeBoeuf – Continues to rack up shutouts, including an 8-0 shut out of Warren and 1-0 shut out of Wilmington.
Jennifer Dudek, Slippery Rock – Had tow goals and three assists in a 6-0 win over Sharpsville.
Kerrigan Burrell, General McLane – Scored two goals in a 3-0 win over Meadville.
Macy Putman, North East – Scored four goals in a 6-0 win over Maplewood. She also had both goals in a 3-2 loss to Mercer.
Marie Winarski, Central Tech – Finished with two goals and two assists in a 6-0 win over Warren.
Kalie Davis, Grove City – Had four goals and one assist against Meadville and three goals and one assist against Sharon.
Sara Suler, Hickory – Scored four goals and had one assist in a 15-0 win over Conneaut.
Taylore Fletcher, Strong Vincent – Scored in the final two minutes to give the Colonels a big 2-1 win over General McLane.
Taylor Babb, Cambridge Springs – Had a hat trick and one assist in a 6-0 win over Sharpsville.

Girls volleyball
Meghan Uht, Harbor Creek - Helped the Huskies win three matches this week with a total of 21 kills, 5 blocks and 14 digs.
Cassi Walberg, Seneca – Had 12 kills and eight digs in a five-set loss to Girard.
Miranda Gulnac, Fort LeBoeuf – Collected 13 kills in a four-set win over Iroquois.
Leah Vensel, McDowell – Had 19 assists, five digs and seven aces in a sweep of Strong Vincent.
Maureen Nkomo, General McLane – Finished with seven kills, 14 digs and five acres in a sweep of Northwestern.
Rachel Schulz, Fairview – Had 20 kills and six blocks in a five-set win over North East.
Jennae Shinski, Cambridge Springs – Finished with 12 kills in a sweep of Union City.
Arianna Sprando, Grove City - Had 15 assists in a sweep of Sharon.
Brooklyn Goodsel, Corry – Dominated with 26 kills and 22 digs in a five-set win over Conneaut.
Challen Litwiler, Conneaut – Had 22 kills and 23 digs in a five-set loss to Corry.
Abby Jones, Franklin – Had 14 kills and 19 digs in a four-set loss to Titusvulle.
Taylor Welch, Girard - Finished with 23 kills and six blocks in a five-set win over Seneca.
Lauren Miller, Union City – Had 28 assists in a sweep of Youngsville.
Ashley Benovic, Iroquois – Dished out 20 assists in a sweep of Northwestern.

Fall athlete
Annie Ciacchini, Villa Maria golf - Shot a 43 to help the Victors’ girls golf team clinch the Region 2 title in a mega-match at Downing.
Sebastian Curtin, Mercyhurst Prep cross country – Was timed at 15 minutes, 51 seconds in the Lakers’ Region 5 cross country quad victory over General McLane, Fairview and Girard.
Bobby Danielson, Central Tech cross country – Was timed at 17 minutes, 50 seconds in the Falcons’ Region 6 cross country dual with Cathedral Prep.
Andrew Gignac, Warren golf – Shot a 77 to lead the Dragons’ boys golf team to a Region 3- mega-match victory at Wanango.
Matt Gordon, Grove City golf – Shot a 37 to lead the Eagles’ boys golf team to a non-region, tri-meet victory over Slippery Rock and Sharon at Grove City.
Ryder Grignol, McDowell golf – Shot a 1-over par 37 to lead the Trojans’ boys golf team to a Region 7 mega-match victory at Culbertson Hills.
Abby Hearns, Hickory golf - Shot a 44 to lead the Hornets’ girls golf team to a Region 1 mega-match victory at Lucky Hills.
Troy Jackson, Union City golf – Shot a 38 for the Bears’ boys golf team in their non-region dual victory over Titusville at Union City.
Justin Latsko, Fort LeBoeuf golf - Shot a 34 for the Bison boys golf team in their non-region victory over General McLane at Crab Apple.
Cameron Leary, Greenville tennis – Swept Franklin’s Lexi Weaver 6-1, 6-1 in their No. 2 singles match of the Trojans’ 4-1 Region 1 girls tennis victory.
Matt McCord, Titusville golf – Shot a 72 to lead the Rockets’ boys golf team to a non-region dual victory over Meadville at Cross Creek.
Tom Pakulski, Fairview golf - Recorded the low rounds for Tigers’ boys golf team in their non-region victories over Meadville and Strong Vincent.
Chris Palutro, Lakeview golf – Shot a 38 for the Sailors’ boys golf team in the Region 1 dual victory over Jamestown at Pleasant Acres.
Morgan Price, General McLane cross country – Finished first with a time of 20 minutes, 19 seconds in the Lancers’ Region 5 cross country tri-meet with Fairview and Mercyhurst Prep.
Trevor Rodgers, Cambridge Springs golf – Shot a 1-under-par 70 to lead the Blue Devils’ boys golf team to a Region 4 mega-match victory at Riverside.
Annie Royek, Corry cross country – Finished first with a time of 17 minutes, 27.2 seconds in the Beavers’ Region 4 country country tri-meet with Harbor Creek and Union City.
Jacob VanSlyke, Harbor Creek golf - Shot a 78 to lead the Huskies’ boys golf team to a Region 6 mega-match victory at Lake View.
Emma Verdonik, North East cross country – Was timed at 18 minutes, 53 seconds in the Grapepickers’ Region 4 cross country tri-meet with Eisenhower and Fort LeBoeuf.
Evan Wronek, Cathedral Prep golf – Shot a 39 to lead the Ramblers’ golf team to a non-region victory over McDowell at Whispering Woods.
