Moylan sister to play final D-10 round

A Moylan sister from North East will compete for the seventh and final time in today’s District 10 individual girls golf tournament.

The one-round competition, which will determine who advances to the PIAA West Region Tournament, returns to Riverside Golf Club in Cambridge Springs. A shotgun start is scheduled for 10 a.m.

This will be the second season of separate Class AA and Class AAA competitions for districts. Kelly Moylan never won when it was open class, but younger sister Megan did in 2011, the final year for that format.

Megan Moylan lost a one-hole playoff to Hickory graduate Rosy Hearns in 2012 at Riverside, although each advanced by placing in the top four. That same number of AA entrants will resume playing after Tuesday.

Only the Class AAA champion will advance beyond Tuesday. That player in 2012 was McDowell’s Megan Kaverman, who has a chance to repeat.
