Reynolds to semifinals, Fort LeBoeuf eliminated, McDowell to consolations at PIAA wrestling

UPDATE No. 2: Despite leading 15-6 at one point, Fort LeBoeuf was the victim of a late run by Saucon Valley, which beat the Bison 32-21 in a consolation match. Saucon Valley goes on to the third round of consolations on Saturday, while Fort LeBoeuf’s run at Hershey ends without a medal.

UPDATE: McDowell lost its PIAA Class AAA quarterfinal match 54-16 to powerhouse Franklin Regional. The Trojans have a quick turnaruond to wrestle Cumberland Valley at 6 p.m. in the consolation bracket. Kyle Berk clinched the match with a decision at 120 pounds after Spencer Lee earned an 18-second pin at 113 pounds. Lee would have been a freshman at Saegertown this season but he moved in the offseason.

District 10 is still alive in the PIAA Class AA team wrestling bracket as Reynolds handled Huntingdon 40-15 in the quarterfinals. Reynolds will wrestle Boiling Springs in the semifinals tonight at 8 p.m. Mason McCollum clinched the match for the Raiders at 152 pounds by beating Huntingdon’s Jon Wagner 2-1 on ultimate tiebreaker. Fort LeBoeuf fell to three-time defending state champion Bethlehem Catholic 62-0. The Bison drop into the consolation bracket and are still alive for third place. Fort LeBoeuf will take on Saucon Valley at 4 p.m. Saucon Valley lost to Reynolds in the first round on Thursday before defeating South Fayette 47-24 in the first round of the consolation bracket this morning.
