Summer Huddle: Fort LeBoeuf

Fort LeBoeuf Bisons

Jeff Nichols

Coach (season, record): Jeff Nichols (1st season at Fort LeBoeuf, 8th season overall, 29-35)
2010 overall record: 2-8
2010 region record (place): 1-5 (sixth)
2010 playoff results: Did not qualify for the District 10 playoffs.
Top players lost: Casey Pace, Nate Carr, Brandon Bradney, Jake Green, Sean Kuzilla, B.J. Arrowsmith, Dan Kress, Ryan Cragle
Top returning players: Mike Hall, Jake Holes, Evan Daley, Nick Dombkowski
Assistant coaches: Justin Blose, Freide Lundell, Lou Benko, Adlin Strimmel, Steven Blose
Outlook: Jeff Nichols revitalized Mercyhurst Prep’s program in the late 19990s and will look to do the same thing in Waterford after a down year in 2010. Nichols was a perfect fit as he teaches in the Waterford School District and is the LeBoeuf baseball coach.

Mike Hall

Jake Holes

The Bisons struggled in ’10 with a two-win season and a turnaround year won’t be easy in a brutal region. LeBoeuf has to deal with teams like Cathedral Prep, Warren, Bradford and the City schools in Erie as well as tough non-region games against North East and Sharon.

LeBoeuf will almost be starting over from scratch. Casey Pace, Brandon Bradney, Nate Carr, B.J. Arrowsmith, Dan Kress and Jake Green are all talented players but are gone through graduation, while Sean Kuzilla transferred to Harbor Creek. Pace was an all-region linebacker, while Bradney made the all-region team as a tight end and Green and Carr as all-region linemen. With almost all of the skill position starters gone, the Bisons will have a new look this fall.

Evan Daley

Nichols will look for the next standout players in camp, while Mike Hall, Jake Holes, Evan Daley and Nick Dombkowski are returning starters. Dombkowski was the only one in the group to see carries last year, but he didn’t get that many. Dombkowski did split time with Arrowsmith at quarterback and could step into the starting role this season. The rest of the backfield will be filled during camp and will need to develop some chemistry quickly.
