Corner Kick: Commodore Perry

Commodore Perry Panthers
Boys
Coach (season, record): Charlie McErlane (4th season, 40-15-1)
2010 overall record: 12-7-1
2010 region record (place): 5-4-1 (third)
2010 playoff results: Lost in a shootout to North East in the District 10 Class AA quarterfinals.
Top players lost: Josh Forbes, Sebastian Estrada, Ryan Cardillo, Zack Woodson, Peter Garner
Top returning players: Tyler Landfried, Zach Anderson, Drew Anderson, Ian Anthony, Sean McErlane
Assistant coaches: Mark Shaffer, Ben Glassman, Adam Rak, B.J. Moses, Jamie Schiestle
Outlook: Commodore Perry continues to make strides in soccer under four-year coach Charlie McErlane. After barely missing the playoffs for years, the Panthers managed to not only get into the District 10 playoffs last fall, but win a match. Commodore Perry knocked off General McLane in a shootout before falling to North East in a two-shootout thriller in the D-10 quarterfinals. The Panthers will be without several standouts this fall after graduation, namely Josh Forbes and Sebastian Estrada. Forbes was voted to the all-region first team as a goalkeeper and Estada was a first team striker.

Commodore Perry’s biggest strength might be its defense. Despite needing a keeper, the Panthers have most of its defensive line back. Zach Anderson and Tyler Landfried are returning first team defenders, while Drew Anderson was named to the second team. Commodore Perry also has Sean McErlane and Ian Anthony back to anchor the offense. Both were named to the all-region second team as juniors. Senior Jered Kaller looks to be the replacement for Forbes in goal.
