Corry Beavers
Girls
Coach (season, record): Gary Hogue (7th season, 31-83)
2010 overall record: 0-18-0
2010 region record (place): 0-8-0 (fifth)
2010 playoff results: Did not qualify for the District 10 playoffs.
Top players lost: Karissa McCune, Shelby Liller, Jaushlynne Anderson, Katie Meerhoff, Nicole McClelland, Cierra Howell
Top returning players: Autumn Sterling, Brianna Sulecki
Assistant coach: Carl McClelland
Outlook: Corry’s first priority this season will be to pick up a win. The Beavers haven’t won since beating East in 2009. Corry has a tough schedule every year and it doesn’t get any easier this fall. The Beavers start the season against Class AAA-power McDowell before taking on powerhouse Villa Maria. Corry plays in a tough region and wins won’t be easy to come by.
The Beavers lost several talented players to graduation, including Karissa McCune, Shelby Liller, Jaushlynn Anderson, Katie Meerhoff, Nicole McClelland and Cierra Howell. Corry will be young and experience this season, but team MVP Autumn Sterling is back along with offensive MVP Brianna Sulecki. If the Beavers can develop their younger players and come together as a team, they could pick up a few wins this fall.
