Fairview Tigers
Boys
Coach (season): Jamin Bookhamer (1st season)
2010 overall record: 13-6-1
2010 region record (place): 6-4-0 (third)
2010 playoff results: Lost 1-0 to Mercyhurst Prep in the District 10 Class A championship.
Top players lost: Austin O’Keane, Steve Nixon, Brandon Sharp, Josh Gdanetz, Billy Burrows
Top returning players: Greg Berdis, Ben Irwin, Mac Thompkins, Jakub Blank, Joey Breisinger
Assistant coach: Ryan Bookhamer
Outlook: Fairview will look to keep its program at a high level with its third coach in three years. Jamin Bookhamer takes over after Alex Kimani moved out of town. Bookhamer will have a young team with only a little experience back. The Tigers lost all-region selections Brandon Sharp, Josh Gdanetz, Steve Nixon, Austin O’Keane and Billy Burrows to graduation. The good news is juniors Greg Berdis (first team offense), Jakub Blank (second team offense) and Ben Irwin (second team defense) are back to lead the young team. Fairview has managed to make the playoffs on a yearly basis and will need some of the younger players to step up in order to keep up that trend.

Girls
Coach (season, record): Lyndsay Violi (3rd season, 16-15-3)
2010 overall record: 7-7-3
2010 region record (place): 6-5-1 (fourth)
2010 playoff results: Did not qualify for the District 10 playoffs.
Top players lost: Madeline Westfall, Julie Eckendorf
Top returning players: Emily Tallmadge, Michalla Martin, Elizabeth Hauk, Elle Bennett
Assistant coaches: Trina Brozewicz, Brad Westfall, Diana Klochak
Outlook: Fairview has stayed competitive despite heavy graduation losses over the past two years. The Tigers might have the experience and talent to get back into the postseason this fall. Madeline Westfall, an all-region first team selection on offense, and Julie Eckendorf were team captains and leaders last year but both have graduated. Fairview returns all-region selections Emily Tallmadge and Michalla Martin. Tallmadge made 111 saves in goal and was voted team MVP by her teammates as a junior. Martin was in charge of marking the top offensive threat from each team last fall and is one of the top defensive players in the area. Also returning for the Tigers are Elizabeth Hauk and Elle Bennett. Hauk controlled the middle of the field to score six goals last year, while Bennett earned a starting spot in 2010, her first year playing soccer. Fairview could receive big years from Katie Sundberg and Katie Koecker, who are looking to make a big impact on varsity this season. The Tigers are in a brutal region and will need to come together as a team quickly in order to compete for a region title and make the playoffs.
