Outlook: Maplewood dealt with numerous injuries last season which led to some tough matches. The Tigers didn’t have much depth and numbers became a problem. Coach Ted Eriksen is hoping Maplewood can stay healthy this fall and improve on its one-win season. Andrea Burchard graduating is an important hole to fill but the Tigers have an experience group coming back. Midfielders Devon Lynn and Kristina Lippert return to the the young Tigers along with goalkeeper Cerianne Rea and center back Emma Lake. Maplewood has three seniors and one sophomore starting on defense which could keep the Tigers in each match. Maplewood managed to build some chemistry and improve during the spring season in club play and could be a surprise team this year. The Tigers only have to beat out two teams in their region to make the District 10 Class A championship. Maplewood’s matches against Iroquois on Sept. 21 and Oct. 17 will determine if they have improved enough to make the playoffs.
Note: Maplewood canceled its boys soccer program.
