Outlook: Cathedral Prep could be in complete rebuild mode this season, which might not be a bad thing. The Ramblers will have plenty of opportunities for younger players to step up with four starters and a sixth man gone to graduation. Prep lost most of its size and could turn to Delton Williams to manage the paint. Williams came on strong last season to compensate for several injured players. Sheldon Zablotny is back after seeing plenty of varsity minutes the past two seasons and is one of the top shooters in the area. He will be counted on along with Williams to replace Adam Blazek, who was named the District 10 Player of the Year. Prep will be one of the more inexperienced teams in Class AAAA this season and will need several underclassmen to come through. Matt Harris, Dan Blazek, Chris Francis, Jeremy Lynch and Conor Colpoys could all see varsity action this season to contribute.
The Ramblers, once again, have a brutal schedule. Prep will play one game until Jan. 8 when the Ramblers host a team from China. Prep hosts St. Francis out of New York on Dec. 16 and will play the rest of the early part of the schedule on the road. The Ramblers have a tough road game at General McLane to start the season and will travel to Florida for the KSA tournament. It won’t get any easier after the Ramblers take on Nanyang China, with four games in nine days. That stretch includes huge region showdowns against McDowell and Strong Vincent as well as the Burger King Classic.
