Commodore Perry Panthers
Boys
Coach (season, record): John L. Hildebran (2nd season, 2-20)
2010-11 overall record: 2-20
2010-11 region record (place): 0-10 (sixth)
2010-11 playoff results: Did not qualify for the District 10 Class A playoffs.
Top players lost: Billy Cattron, Nick Huffman, William Whiteside, Landyn Artman, Michael Simons, Phillip Blodgett
Top returning players: Wade Peterson, Keith Eddy, Brandon Stringert
Assistant coaches: Eugene Grinnell, Jeff Briggs, Owen Clawges
Outlook: Commodore Perry’s goal this season isn’t necessarily to win games but to gain experience. With no seniors after losing several players to graduation, the Panthers will be young. Commodore Perry has a strong sophomore class of at least 10 players, which includes some size that second-year coach John Hildebran can develop. Wade Peterson, Keith Eddy and Brandon Stringert lettered as sophomores last winter and will be counted on to lead the young Panthers this season. Peterson and Stringert are solid guards that will be in charge of handling the ball, while Eddy led Commodore Perry in rebounding last season. While winning games is what every team wants to do, the Panthers need to develop their team and the program to see the fruits of that labor next year.

Girls
Coach (season, record): Bob Messina (5th year, 23-66)
2010-11 overall record: 13-10
2010-11 region record (place): 5-5 (third)
2010-11 playoff results: Lost 43-34 to Linesville in the District 10 Class A quarterfinals.
Top players lost: Jessica McClain, Marissa Wilkosz, Jamie Elwell, Sarah Bell, Jessica Reed, Kara Stromyer
Top returning players: Jackie Harsh, Jenna Harsh, Lexi Grinnell, Kaitlyn Powell, Emily Kitchen, Autumn Campbell, Amber Wimer, Rayne Foust, Courtney Beachy
Assistant coaches: Brittany Totin, Dee Wimer
Outlook: Commodore Perry’s program has been on the rise the last few years, culminating in a playoff spot last winter. The Panthers will need to fill in some holes quickly this year if they want to return to the postseason. Commodore Perry was gutted by graduation, losing its top four scorers and top two rebounders. Jessica McClain (first team), Marissa Wilkosz (second) and Jamie Elwell (second) were named all-region last season but have graduated along with Sarah Bell, Jessica Reed and Kara Stromyer.
Coach Bob Messina will look to seniros Jackie and Jenna Harsh for some leadership this winter as well as juniors Lexi Grinnell, Kaitlyn Powell and Amber Wimer. Sophomores Emily Kitchen, Autumn Campbell, Rayna Foust and Courtney Beachy could see extended varsity minutes this season and will need to get used to varsity play right away. The Panthers face a tough early schedule with plenty of road games and will need to come together in camp to get through the first month of the season.
