How is Conneaut able to play in class A for football when their enrollment classifies them to play in AAA?
Brad,
District 10 had to finalize its football regions in order to give ADs a chance to schedule games and get the fall season set up. D-10 did this back in February. The Conneaut decision to merge happened months later after regions and region schedules were already set. If D-10 changed everything once Conneaut became AAA it would have screwed up everything.
Basically, Conneaut is not eligible to win the region title and if they want to get into the playoffs, it has to be as an at-large team. So if Conneaut has a perfect region record, it guarantees nothing this year or next year.
Thanks,
Tom Reisenweber
If I was in the Conneaut School District and our football team won the Region I would show the following taken directly from the D-10 website
“The District 10 Football Tournament will consist of three (3) divisions; each based upon male enrollment.
The Champion Team of a region will automatically quality for the District 10 Football Tournament. All other
teams will qualify on an at large basis.”
Blogmansouth,
Conneaut cannot win the region title this year or next year. That was a decision made by the District 10 Committee based on them being two classes above everyone else. If they were just one, they could win the region.
As a result, even if Conneaut goes 10-0 this season, they would have to qualify as an at-large team.
Thanks,
Tom Reisenweber
Than District X should change the tourney info on their web page to reflect that information …. that is all I am saying….
Blogmansouth,
If you go to tournament info on the D-10 site and click on the football tournament. Scroll down to the regions. It has a double asterisk next to Conneaut and to the left it says “not eligible for region championship”.
Thanks,
Tom
Thank you sir …
