District 10 basketball county recap

The District 10 basketball playoffs have finished with 22 teams moving on to the PIAA playoffs. Congratulations to the West Middlesex, Mercyhurst Prep, General McLane and Cathedral Prep boys teams along with the Kennedy Catholic, Villa Maria, Franklin and McDowell girls teams in claiming D-10 championships in their respective classes. Here’s a look at how each county did. Before anyone comments that you can’t count Class AAAA because it is mostly Erie teams, you would then have to throw out Class A because of no Erie teams. In fairness, we will count both classes.

District 10 championship totals
Erie – 5 (3 boys, 2 girls)
Mercer – 2 (1 boys, 1 girls)
Venango – 1 (1 girls)

District 10 playoff records
Venango 6-2 (.750)
Erie 23-17 (.575)
Mercer 14-16 (.467)
Warren 2-3 (.400)
Crawford 5-12 (.294)

Teams left
Erie – 10 (5 boys, 5 girls)
Mercer – 7 (4 boys, 3 girls)
Crawford – 2 (2 girls)
Venango – 2 (1 boys, 1 girls)
Warren – 1 (1 boys)

  1. Carrie Ficke says:

Slippery Rock is in Butler Country. Not represented.

  2. Tom Reisenweber says:

I included Slippery Rock and Wilmington in Mercer County because they are right on the border and play in a Mercer County region. I did that so we didn’t have counties with only one rep.
