18 Under 18 nominations accepted

The Erie Times News sports department is accepting nominations for its fifth annual 18 Under 18 list. Scheduled for publication in the Dec. 30 edition of Varsity, the section will honor 18 of District 10′s best student-athletes.

Last year, 25 nominations submitted by parents, relatives and coaches. The top 18 were chosen by the Times News sports department based on their submitted academic and athletic achievements.

Outside activities, as well as plans for the future, also were taken into consideration.

Candidates for the current 18 Under 18 must be in the eighth through 12th grades as of next fall. They can’t turn 18 before Jan. 1, 2010.

Students-athletes chosen for previous 18 Under 18 lists also aren’t eligible.

The entry deadline is Friday, Dec. 18.

Nominations can be e-mailed to sports@timesnews.com; faxed to 870-1808; mailed to 18 Under 18, Erie Times News Sports Department, 205 W. 12th St., Erie, PA 16534; or dropped off at the main office of the Times Publishing Company. Please include contact information with any submissions.
