The Pennsylvania High School Softball Coaches Association has released its all-state teams with several District 10 athletes. Jolene Young of Fort LeBoeuf and Alexa Bupp of Warren were first team in Class AAA, while McDowell’s Jenna Pecar was first team in Class AAAA. Warren’s Kaitlin Ishman was second team in Class AAA, while Lexi Fuller (McDowell), Paige Wilson (Warren), Kelsey Kuzma (Fort LeBoeuf), Alli Kaliszewski (Iroquois), Rachel Prather (Iroquois) and Jordyn Allen (West Middlesex) are honorable mention in their respective classes.

There are painful losses and then there’s losing a state title on a dropped third strike. In the Montana Class AA softball state championship, Billings West and Missoula Big Sky were tied 2-2 before everything that could go wrong, went wrong for Big Sky. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Kendyl Boltz struck out swinging and the pitch got away from the catcher. Boltz took off for first and the throw went down the right field line. She rounded second and took off from third when there were more throwing errors in the outfield. Boltz eventually scored to give Billings West the state title. Here is video of that at-bat:
