Outlook: Breese, a junior, was a state qualifier at 285 pounds last season and finished 30-10. He leads a talented group that includes Even Clayton, a senior 106-pounder who was 21-11 last season; Heim, a 126-pound junior who went 15-10; and Schleiffer, a 138-pound senior who was 17-11. Freshman 132-pounder Trevor Williams was 10-2 at the junior high level last season and should make an impact right away. In his third season, Tingley is pushing for the Sailors to qualify for the District 10 team championships and become a factor in the Region 1 race. At least two or three PIAA qualifiers and a state place-winner are on his wish list.

Outlook: The Panthers had an outstanding 2011-12 season, with the only two losses coming to PIAA Class AA third-place finisher Fort LeBoeuf. Although they lost several quality wrestlers from that team, plenty of talent returns led by Vath, who went 42-4 last season, won district and regional titles and finished fifth in the state at 106 pounds. He is slated to move up to 120. Dylan Reynolds went 31-8 last season and finished fifth in the district at 160 for Cambridge Springs. He is expected to compete at 182 this season. Overall, the Panthers have a good mix of seniors and underclassmen, and enough quality depth to compete for a region title and factor into the D-10 Class AA team race.

Outlook: Onorato has gradually rebuilt Girard’s program and as he begins his fourth season expects to field a competitive lineup with a few wrestlers who have the potential to make deep postseason runs. At the top of that list is McCray, who is 80-24 in his career and put together a 33-7 season in 2011-12, when he was one of three District 10 qualifiers for the YellowJackets. The other returning D-10 qualifiers are Christian Bock, who went 20-19 last season, and Dan Daugherty, who was 15-19 last year. McCray projects at 138 or 145, with Bock at 160 or 170 and Daugherty at 195 or 220. Dalton is penciled in at 132 or 138, with Kleschevinikov at 170 or 182. Freshman Brendan Kohan should slide in at 152 or 160 after an accomplished junior career.

Cihon (47 wins, 2nd at Hershey) and Pace (49 wins, 3rd) led the way, while Puckley went 40-10 and was a state qualifier and Smith was 38-15 and a regional consolation semifinalist. While their firepower is gone, plenty of talent remains. Daley is back after a tremendous junior season in which he went 50-6 and finished fifth at Hershey. Mcguire is a returning state qualifier who went 33-18, and Harrington (37-13 last season) and Malinowski (18-15) each were fourth at regionals. There’s no reason to expect anything less than another run at the D-10 and perhaps even PIAA team Class AA titles, and LeBoeuf will have at least one strong individual championship contender in Daley.

Joe Wheeling (62-16) has posted back-to-back outstanding seasons in his first two years and looks to break through as a junior. McLane has a nice mix of experience — five returning wrestlers with at least 41 career wins — and newcomers, including another solid incoming freshman group led by former PJW seventh-place finisher Hunter Hendricks and former PJW qualifiers Dylan Myers, Kyle Sult and Briggs Twitchell. Senior Ossie Bowers was at Fort LeBoeuf the past three seasons and could become a force at either 145 or 152, and talented junior Mike Sutton, a transfer from Somerset who has 61 career wins. Cook also expects a big contribution from sophomore Ian Mallory, a former PJW third-place finisher. McLane has more than enough talent and depth to contend for a District 10 Class AAA team title and make some serious noise in the postseason.

He goes into his final season with an 86-29 career record, one win shy of his brother Joe, a two-time PIAA qualifier for the Falcons in 2004-05. The Falcons have other solid returnees in Guerra, a returning District 10 runner-up who has a 46-40 career record and is expected to be back at 182 pounds, and Mancuso, a projected 138-pounder who is 56-43. Newcomer Jose Lopez has shown promise and could slide into the lineup at 120.

Outlook: After 11 seasons as an assistant under Brian Hills, Casey Taylor took over the program last year and led Reynolds to another outstanding season. The Raiders finished as runners-up in the team race at the PIAA Class AA individual championships and returned to the PIAA AA team tournament. In his second season, Taylor will be without standouts D’Urso, a PIAA runner-up, and Heim, who was third. Together the two won 84 matches last season. But plenty of talent returns, led by Matthews, who was 48-2 last season en route to a second-place PIAA finish at 138 pounds. He bumps up to 152 this season. As usual, the Raiders will have a balanced lineup with plenty of wrestlers who gained experience last season. Newcomers Gene Ringer (285) and Seth Hogue (106) should step in and provide help right away. As usual, the expectations will be high both inside the program and on the outside.
