The Big 33 Football Classic’s streak of having a player in the Super Bowl has now reached 48 years.

Three former Big 33 players are on the two Super Bowl teams’ rosters this season.

Former Steelton Highspire and Penn State star Jordan Hill is a reserve defensive tackle for the Seattle Seahawks. He played for Pennsylvania in 2009.

The Broncos have two former members of the Ohio team on their roster: reserve center Steve Vallos and backup quarterback Zac Dysert. Vallos played in the 2002 Big 33 and Dysert played in 2008.

The Big 33 Scholarship Foundation announced that Pennsylvania will play Maryland instead of Ohio in the annual Big 33 game over the next five years. The change will occur right away as Pennsylvania will take on Maryland on in the 57th Big 33 Football Classic on June 15, 2013. This is the ninth change in opponents for the Big 33 game and the first time Pennsylvania is playing Maryland since 1992. Former opponents include national all-star teams, Texas, Ohio and the game was at one point an East-West game in Pennsylvania. The Big 33 game has featured many five-star players and there has never been a Super Bowl that didn’t feature a Big 33 alumnus.

The Big 33 Scholarship Foundation will hold a press conference on Nov. 8 in Brooklandville, Maryland to release more details.
