Fans can vote for the Breakout Team of the Week on the top right corner of the page. Voting continues through Friday at 4:59 p.m. with the winner being featured Sunday in the Erie Times-News. Teams who have won the award this season are no longer eligible. Fans are encouraged to nominate teams by 5 p.m. each Tuesday.

Lakeview football - The Sailors are off to a fast 2-0 start after an impressive 28-14 win over Conneaut this past week.
Cochranton football - The Cardinals put together another impressive with by beating Cambridge Springs 49-14.
Grove City football – The Eagles overcame big-time graduation losses to start this season 2-0 after an impressive 19-7 win over Wilmington.
Reynolds football – The Raiders are rolling this season at 2-0 after holding off Titusville 19-6.
Corry football - The Beavers edged North East 35-28 to remain perfect this season and take control of Region 4.
Cathedral Prep football – The Ramblers established their position as the top Class AAA team in District 10 by routing Strong Vincent 48-22.
DuBois football – The Beavers have inexperience in their starting lineup but have managed an impressive 2-0 start. DuBois routed Franklin 61-21 this past week.
Cathedral Prep soccer – Despite heavy graduation losses and several big-time injuries this past week, the Ramblers moved to 2-0-0 Tuesday with a 3-1 win over East.
Harbor Creek boys soccer – The Huskies keep rolling at 4-0-0 this season, including a 4-1 win over powerhouse Warren.
Eisenhower boys soccer – The Knights are a perfect 3-0-0 so far and have a huge match with Fairview on Monday.
Commodore Perry boys soccer – The Panthers have been building toward a playoff spot for years and might be on their way after a 2-0-0 start. Commodore Perry’s two wins including perennial power Slippery Rock, 2-1.
Franklin boys soccer – The Knights moved to 3-0-0 on Tuesday with a win over Meadville.
Harbor Creek girls soccer - The Huskies keep on winning at 5-0-0. Harbor Creek held off Villa Maria 2-1 on Tuesday.
Hickory girls soccer – The Hornets might be the hottest team in District 10 with a 3-0-0 record and no goals allowed this season.
Grove City boys cross country - The Eagles dominated the B race at the Red, White and Blue Classic in Pittsburgh on Saturday. Grove City won the team championship.
West Middlesex cross country – The Big Reds won the boys and girls team titles in the White race at the West Middlesex Invitational.
Hickory cross country – The Hornets won the boys and girls team titles in the Red race the West Middlesex Invitational.
General McLane girls tennis – The Lancers moved to an impressive 3-0 by beating McDowell this past week.
Cathedral Prep golf - Clinched the Region 7 championship on Monday.

West Middlesex cross country – Earned a sweep in the Hermitage Invitational by winning the boys and girls races.
Cathedral Prep cross country – Placed three runners in the top 20 to pick up the McDowell Invitational boys team championship.
Villa Maria cross country – Had two runners in the top 10, including champion Bernadette Prichard as the Victors won the McDowell Invitational girls team championship.
Harbor Creek girls soccer – Harbor Creek didn’t allow a goal in two matches as the Huskies captured the Harbor Creek tournament championship.
Fort LeBoeuf volleyball – The Bison rolled through pool play and knocked off rival General McLane in the championship to win their own invitational.
North East volleyball – Picked up an impressive tournament championship at the Cambridge Springs tournament. North East beat powerhouses Saegertown in the championship.
Slippery Rock volleyball – Made its way through a tough field and beat several talented teams to win its own invitational.
Mercyhurst Prep tennis – The Lakers are off to an impressive start, including a 4-1 win over McDowell.
Harbor Creek boys soccer – The Huskies posted two impressive wins, including a 1-0 shutout of Fairview to win the Harbor Creek tournament.
General McLane boys soccer – The Lancers picked up an important region match by holding off East 2-1 on Friday.
Conneaut football – The Eagles picked up their first win in program history by defeating Girard 36-16.
Farrell football – The Steelers held on in overtime to beat rival Sharon 21-14.
Wilmington football – The Greyhounds were tested in a big way but used a late touchdown to beat Class A power West Middlesex 13-10.
Hickory football – The Hornets knocked off state-ranked Strong Vincent 44-22.
Central Tech football – The Falcons picked up an impressive 36-13 win over Mercyhurst Prep.

Saegertown baseball – The Panthers have been red-hot to start the season at 6-0. Saegertown picked up three wins on a southern trip before winning three games against District 10 opponents. All three wins against D-10 teams have ended early with the 10-run mercy rule.
Cathedral Prep lacrosse – The Ramblers held off rival McDowell 8-7 in four overtimes on Monday. Josh Mack ended the game with two minutes left in the fourth overtime with a goal.
McDowell girls lacrosse – The Trojans moved to 2-1 with a 7-5 win over Villa Maria. Brittany Perseo had three goals for the Trojans, while Alyssa DiRienzo added two.
Titusville softball – The Rockets moved to 3-0 with a 23-8 win over Slippery Rock last week. Titusville has outscored its opponents 46-13.
Saegertown softball - The Panthers moved to 5-0 Monday with a 7-3 win over Linesville. Saegertown has mercy-ruled three of its five opponents.
Maplewood softball – The Tigers are off to an impressive start at 4-0. Maplewood has a huge game with Saegertown on Monday.
Cathedral Prep tennis – The Ramblers picked up three wins in the past week, including a 4-1 win over rival McDowell.
North East baseball - The Grapepickers moved to 2-0 on Monday with an 11-4 win over Mercyhurst Prep. North East also knocked off Class AA power Hickory 4-2 to start the season.

Meadville hockey – The Bulldogs rolled to the Lake Shore Hockey League regular season title with a 6-1 win over Fort LeBoeuf.
Harbor Creek hockey – The Huskies earned a playoff win by defeating Wheeling Central 6-4 in the PIHL Open quarterfinals.
General McLane boys basketball – The Lancers rolled through two playoff games this past week and is 23-0 this season. McLane will play for the D-10 Class AAA title on Friday.
West Middlesex boys basketball - The Big Reds survived a scrappy VisionQuest team to qualify for the D-10 Class A championship.
Kennedy Catholic boys basketball – The Golden Eagles routed Cochranton to earn a spot in the D-10 Class A championship.
North East boys basketball – The Grapepickers earned a huge 41-40 win over Lakeview in the D-10 Class AA semifinals on Tuesday.
Warren boys basketball - The Dragons have risen to the challenge twice this past week to storm into the D-10 Class AAA championship.
Franklin girls basketball – The Knights rolled through North East to advanced to the D-10 Class AAA semifinals.
Mercyhurst Prep girls basketball – Mercyhurst remained undefeated this season with a rout of Grove City.
Villa Maria girls basketball – The Victors had no issues with Wilmington in the first round and look poised for a sixth straight D-10 title.
Girard girls basketball - The YellowJackets handled Sharon to move into the D-10 semifinals.
Saegertown girls basketball – The Panthers upset Farrell in the first round of the D-10 Class A playoffs.

Girard boys basketball – The YellowJackets pulled off a 44-37 upset of Meadville in a District 10 Class AAA play-in game. Girard will continue its season Thursday against Grove City.
Fairview boys basketball – The Tigers knocked off Northwestern 48-41 in a D-10 Class AA play-in game behind several big-time performances from freshmen.
Franklin boys basketball – The Knights kept their season alive Tuesday with a 54-38 win over Harbor Creek.
Mercyhurst Prep girls basketball – The Lakers capped a perfect season by defeating North East in their annual Think Pink game. Mercyhurst enters the playoffs at 22-0.
McDowell hockey – The Trojans put together a big performance in the Pink the Rink II by defeating Cathedral Prep 7-4.
General McLane boys basketball – The Lancers finished the regular season 21-0.
Fairview swimming – The Tigers had perfect region seasons in boys and girls.
Franklin boys swimming – The Knights wrapped up the Region 1 title at 16-0.
Cathedral Prep swimming – Defeated McDowell to go 14-0 in Region 3 competition.
Titusville girls swimming – The Rockets finished region season 16-0 to win the region title.
McDowell girls swimming – The Trojans went 12-0 in Region 3 to grab the region title.

General McLane has been tough on the mats this season and moved to 8-0 with a 38-23 win over Cathedral Prep. Joe Wheeling (106 pounds) and Jake Baker (220) picked up pins over the Ramblers, while Tim Wheeling (138) and D.J. Myers (152) earned added bonus points with major decisions.

The Lancers can claim a share of the Region 4 title and clinch a spot in the District 10 team tournament on Wednesday against McDowell with McLane’s last region dual coming Feb. 8 at Meadville.

It’s no surprise the Fort LeBoeuf wrestling team is unbeaten in dual matches, but the Bison did mark some history over last weekend. LeBoeuf hosted the Bison Brawl for the second time but for the first time in Waterford. The Bison won the tournament with 213 points as a team, while Butler was second with 2051⁄2.

LeBoeuf is in first place in Region 3 and moved to 6-0 on the season with a 60-6 win over Seneca on Wednesday.

Strong Vincent boys basketball – The Colonels established their grip on Region 8 with a thrilling 60-59 win over Cathedral Prep on Monday. The Colonels are in sole possession of first place with four region games left.
Franklin boys basketball - The Knights remained undefeated Tuesday with a convincing 55-41 win over Hickory. Franklin is 9-0 and is emerging as a top team in Class AAA.
General McLane boys basketball – The Lancers moved to 10-0 Tuesday with a 60-46 win over Warren. McLane is 5-0 in region play and looks like a favorite to return to the D-10 Class AAA championship game.
Franklin girls basketball – The Knights beat Hickory 60-50 in an important region before routing Grove City. Franklin is 8-0 and may not lose a game until the playoffs.
Mercyhurst Prep girls basketball – The Lakers moved to 9-0 with a 60-43 win over General McLane. Mercyhurst had Kayla Wilwohl return from injury and is starting to come together.
Reynolds wrestling – The Raiders moved to 9-0 on the season with a five-match sweep in the Region 1 duals on Saturday. Reynolds is 7-0 in region matches and is two wins from locking up another region title.
Greenville wrestling – The Trojans have locked up a share of the Region 2 title and can claim the region title outright tonight against Commodore Perry.
McDowell wrestling – The Trojans won the Tool City tournament on Saturday with 216.5 points, well ahead of Boiling Sptings (192.5) and DuBois (161.5).
Fort LeBoeuf wrestling – The Bison are not only undefeated in duals, but they took home the Bison Brawl championship on Saturday. LeBoeuf finished with 213 points while Butler had 205.5.
Fairview swimming/diving – The Tigers swept North East to move to 4-0 on the season.
McDowell swimming/diving - The Trojans are 5-0 after sweeping Warren on Monday.

Linesville volleyball – The Lions went undefeated this season to claim the PIAA Class A championship. Linesville finished 25-0 in dual meets, including a Region 2 championship and a District 10 Class A title.
Maplewood volleyball – The Tigers weren’t expected to make a run like they did this fall. Maplewood made the playoffs, became the District 10 Class A runner-up and made its way to the PIAA semifinals. If it weren’t for rival Linesville, the Tigers could have made it to the PIAA championship.
Mercyhurst Prep boys soccer – The Lakers earned a return trip to the PIAA finals by beating Sewickley Academy 5-1 in dominant fashion Tuesday. Earlier, Mercyhurst claimed a 6-0 quarterfinal win over Karns City and a 3-2 first-round win over Seton-La Salle.
Sharpsville football – The Blue Devils continued their perfect season with a 48-0 win over Cambridge Springs in the District 10 Class A quarterfinals. Sharpsville is 10-0 this season and will take on Farrell on Friday in the D-10 semifinals.
West Middlesex football – The Big Reds qualified for the playoffs for the first time in several years and are making the most of it. West Middlesex knocked off previously unbeaten Youngsville 47-0 in the District 10 Class A quarterfinals.
East football – The Warriors played in their first playoff game on Friday and picked up their first playoff win in school history by beating Corry 27-16.
Strong Vincent football – The Colonels picked up their first playoff win since moving up to Class AAAA. Vincent routed Mifflin County 42-21 in a PIAA Class AAAA subregional and will look for another subregional win Saturday against State College.

General McLane boys soccer – The Lancers capped a terrific playoff run by winning the District 10 Class AA championship with a 1-0 win over Slippery Rock. It was the third D-10 title in program history and first since 2002.
Cathedral Prep boys soccer – The Ramblers beat rival McDowell 4-2 to win the D-10 Class AAA championship. Prep then went on to beat Peters Township 5-4 on penalty kicks in the first round of the PIAA playoffs.
Mercyhurst Prep boys soccer – The Lakers handled Kennedy Catholic before beating rival Fairview 3-1 to win the D-10 Class A title. Mercyhurst then upset D-7 champion Seton-La Salle 3-2 in the first round of the PIAA playoffs.
Wilmington girls soccer – The Greyhounds overcame a two-goal deficit to beat Iroquois 3-2 and win another D-10 Class A title.
McDowell girls soccer – The Trojans cruised to a 7-0 win over Strong Vincent to win another D-10 Class AAA title.
Linesville volleyball – The Lions kept their magical season going by winning the D-10 Class A title over rival Maplewood. Linesville also survived the first round of the PIAA playoffs on Tuesday to earn a trip to York.
McDowell volleyball – The Trojans dominated Mercyhurst Prep to win the D-10 Class AAA championship before routing DuBois to advance in the PIAA playoffs.
McDowell football – McDowell earned a District 7 playoff win by routing McKeesport 42-7.
Sharpsville football – The Blue Devils capped a perfect regular season by beating Linesville 47-20. Sharpsville enters the District 10 Class A playoffs as a top seed.
Grove City football – The Eagles finished the regular season at 9-0 and have rolled through every team they have faced this season.

Grove City football – The Eagles continued their dominant play this season with a 63-21 win over DuBois. Grove City is off this week and will likely have next week off with a first-round bye in the District 10 Class AAA playoffs.
Sharpsville football – The Blue Devils shut out Conneaut Valley 35-0 to move to 8-0 this season. Sharpsville will be a top seed when the District 10 Class A postseason begins next week.
McDowell football - The Trojans routed Altoona 59-0 to build some momentum heading into the playoffs. McDowell earned its first District 7 playoff home game in Gus Anderson Field history.
North East boys soccer – The Grapepickers pulled off a huge upset by taking out Warren in the quarterfinals of the District 10 Class AA playoffs. The Dragons entered as D-10′s only unbeaten boys team and the defending D-10 champions. North East has been on a roll in the second half of the season with 10 wins in its last 11 matches.
Hickory girls soccer – The Hornettes moved to 18-0 this season with a convincing 5-0 win over General McLane in the District 10 Class AA quarterfinals. Hickory will take on defending PIAA champion Mercyhurst Prep tonight at Veterans Stadium.
Grove City boys soccer – The Eagles shut out Hickory 2-0 for the second time this week to advance in the D-10 Class AA playoffs.
Mercyhurst Prep cross country – The Lakers wrapped up the girls team title at Saturday’s District 10 championship meet. Carly Vicary led the way with a fifth-place time of 21 minutes, 19 seconds, while Catherin Stark finished the race in 21:47 to take 19th place.
Grove City cross country – The Eagles rolled to the District 10 Class AAA team title on Saturday behind D-10 individual champion Daniel Jaskowak. Ben Hoffman took fourth to contribute for Grove City, while Aaron Benka and Ian Brown finished ninth and 10th, respectively.
McDowell girls cross country - The Trojans dominated Saturday to claim the team title at the D-10 Class AAA championship meet. Kelsey Swantek won the individual title, while Melissa Perseo took second and Katie Manno finished third.
Linesville volleyball - The Lions rolled through the regular season without losing and kept it going Tuesday. Linesville swept Kennedy Catholic, Maplewood and Eisenhower to win its pool in the District 10 Class A bracket and reached Saturday’s semifinals.
Saegertown volleyball - The Panthers are on a roll late in the season and swept their way through pool play. Saegertown is in Saturday’s semifinals against Maplewood.

Mercyhurst Prep boys soccer – The Lakers are dominating this season with only a close 3-1 loss to Class AA power Warren as the only blemish on the schedule. Mercyhurst Prep picked up an impressive 5-1 win at Peters Township, the defending WPIAL Class AAA champions on Wednesday.
Fort LeBoeuf girls soccer – The Bison upset General McLane 1-0 on Wednesday to bolster their playoff resume.
Sharpsville volleyball – The Blue Darlings remained perfect this season with a sweep of Reynolds on Wednesday.
Hickory girls soccer – The Hornettes look like they will be perfect heading into the postseason. Hickory has taken care of every opponent this season and will be a dangerous team in the playoffs.
Mercyhurst Prep football – The Lakers picked up a huge win by edging Saegertown 27-26 in overtime on Friday. The win gave Mercyhurst Prep a chance split the region championship if Saegertown beats Youngsville.
McDowell tennis – The Trojans swept all five matches to beat Central Tech and win another District 10 Class AAA team championship.
Grove City football – The Eagles kept right on rolling with a 33-7 win over Conneaut (Ohio) to remain unbeaten.
Sharpsville football – The Blue Devils stayed away from a letdown game by routing Farrell 36-8.
North East football – The Grapepickers picked up a thrilling 34-33 win over Strong Vincent on Saturday to keep their terrific season going.
Cambridge Springs girls soccer – The Blue Devils had plenty on the line Tuesday. A loss and they were likely out of the playoffs. A tie creates an interesting situation but Cambridge didn’t falter and beat Conneaut Valley 3-2. The win clinched the Region 4 title and a spot in the District 10 playoffs.
Mercyhurst Prep cross country – The Lakers swept the Region 5 meets on Thursday and are strong candidates to compete for the D-10 team titles on Saturday.
Grove City boys cross country – The Eagles continued their domination this season by winning the Mercer County Invitational.
