Voting continues through Friday at 4:59 p.m. with the winner being featured in Sunday’s edition of the Erie Times-News. Fans are encouraged to submit nominations of teams by Tuesday night each week. Teams that have won the award this season are no longer eligible.
Youngsville football - The Eagles kept their remarkable season going with a 42-13 rout of Eisenhower, one week after upsetting Mercyhurst Prep. Youngsville is 6-0 and will take on Conneaut (Ohio) this week.
Grove City football – Grove City proved its worth last week by shutting out Class AA power Wilmington 17-0. The Eagles are 6-0 this season and have won 19 regular-season games in a row.
Sharpsville football – The Blue Devils have looked unstoppable this season at 5-0. Sharpsville routed Lakeview 52-6 last week but has a huge test in Mercer on Friday.
Corry football - The Beavers scored four touchdowns right away and held on to upset North East 28-21.
Cathedral Prep golf – The Ramblers rolled to the District 10 boys team title behind a round of 73 from District 10 individual champion Cameron Zbrzeznj.
Mercyhurst Prep girls golf – Despite falling just short of a region title, the Lakers dominated the D-10 girls team tournament. With five scores under 100, Mercyhurst finished with 366 strokes to McDowell’s 372.
Kennedy Catholic girls tennis – The Golden Eagles weren’t touched in Region 1 this season with a 14-0 record. The region champs’ only loss came to Ohio power Warren JFK.
Mercyhurst Prep girls tennis – The Lakers completed a perfect Region 2 season on Tuesday by beating McDowell. Mercyhurst is 11-0 overall this season and is the favorite to repeat as D-10 team champions.
McDowell girls cross country – The Trojans put together a terrific performance at the Dirty Dawg Invitational to win the team competition.
Grove City boys cross country – The Eagles edged Cathedral Prep 40-51 to win the Dirty Dawg Invitational. The Eagles claimed three top-10 spots to win the title.
Hickory girls soccer – The Hornets improved to 12-0-0 on Tuesday with a 4-1 win over Grove City. Hickory also knocked off Slippery Rock 4-2 earlier in the week.
Mercer boys soccer - The Mustangs picked up their 10th-straight win against Kennedy Catholic on Monday. Mercer won 1-0 to establish control of Region 1.
Mercyhurst Prep boys soccer – The Lakers came up big with a 3-2 win over Fairview to complete the season-sweep. Mercyhurst’s win puts the Lakers in the driver’s seat to win the region title.
Iroquois volleyball – The Braves overcame rival Harbor Creek in a five-set, non-region thriller.
