Harbor Creek Huskies
Boys
Coach (season, record): Joe DiSanto (8th season, 92-45-7)
2011 overall record: 11-7-0
2011 region record (place): 8-4-0 (third)
2011 playoff results: Did not qualify for the District 10 Class AA playoffs
Top players lost: Tyler Peterseim, Addam Bostwick, Kevin Nowakowski, Matt Wasielewski
Top returning players: Cory Kuzilla, Phil Hesch, Koltin Hammer
Assistant coaches: Dave Schumacher, Keven Beringer
Outlook: Harbor Creek watched its girls team dominate in 2011 and win a District 10 championship. It could very well be the boys’ turn this season. The Huskies return eight starters and are bolstered by transfer Eric Campbell from Mercyhurst Prep. Harbor Creek will have some holes to fill. Tyler Peterseim, Addam Bostwick, Kevin Nowakowski and Matt Wasielewski have graduated for the Huskies. Peterseim (offense), Bostwick (defense) and Nowakowski (defense) were all-region first-team selections, while Wasielewski was a second-team pick on offense after collecting six goals and 13 assists as a senior. Peterseim was Harbor Creek’s fifth-leading scorer with 13 points on five goals and three assists. Among Harbor Creek’s eight returning starters are Cory Kuzilla, Phil Hesch and Koltin Hammer. Kuzilla was a first-team pick on offense after scoring nine goals and dishing out four assists, while Hammer and Hersch were second-team selections on offense. Hammer led the Huskies with 11 goals and four assists and Hesch had eight goals with four assists. Campbell’s transfer to Harbor Creek brings another big-time scorer for the Huskies to utilize. Campbell, an all-district selection as a sophomore, had 22 goals and 11 assists last fall. He is the younger brother of Harbor Creek graduate Scott Campbell, a starter at California (Pa,). Dan Kuhn and Ike Hodapp are incoming freshmen that could contend for starting positions this fall. With a successful season in 2011 where the Huskies barely missed the playoffs, they return this season as a serious contender to win the District 10 Class AA championship.

2011 overall record: 20-3-0
2011 region record (place): 12-0-0 (champion)
2011 playoff results: Defeated Slippery Rock 4-2, Villa Maria 3-1 and Mercyhurst Prep 2-1 in double-overtime to win the District 10 Class AA championship. Harbor Creek then defeated Elizabeth Forward 2-0 in the first round of the PIAA playoffs beflore losing to South Park 4-0 in the quarterfinals.
Top players lost: Steph Corey, Kristin Markiewicz, Kellie Nowakowski, Megan Yount, Morgan Hall
Top returning players: Kaylee Lewis, Court Slowikowski, Tash Brigham, Ania Gorski, Jenny Angelo
Outlook: Harbor Creek put together one of its best seasons in program history in 2011 with a District 10 Class AA championship and a win in the first round of the PIAA playoffs. The Huskies were hit hard by graduation, however, with the loss of Steph Corey, Kristin Markiewicz, Kellie Nowakowski, Megan Yount, Morgan Hall, Chrissy Zdaniewski, Melissa Tarquinio, Graceanne Domino and Sarah Angelo. Corey was named the District 10 Player of the Year and to the all-district team. She was an all-region first-team selection on offense and the Region 6 Player of the Year. Corey was named to the all-state team after scoring 21 goals and dishing out 24 assists. Markiewicz was an all-district and first-team all-region pick on offense after scoring 26 goals and collecting 20 assists, while Nowakowski was an all-district and all-region selection on defense. Yount made the all-region first team on offense after scoring 27 goals and dishing out 19 assists, while Hall was a second-team defender. With everything the Huskies lost to graduation, there is still hope for a repeat this season. Harbor Creek returns three all-region players in Ania Gorski, Tash Brigham and Court Slowikowski along with Jenny Angelo. Gorski was a first-team defender as a sophomore, while Brigham was a solid second-team goalkeeper. Slowikowski was also part of a tough Harbor Creek defense as a second-team selection. Angelo was reliable offensive player as a freshman and could take a step forward as a leader on offense this fall. Taylor Lewis is an incoming freshman that could make an impact on offense, while sophomore Dani Dougan could see time on offense or defense. Harbor Creek loaded its schedule with powerhouse teams, including Villa Maria, McDowell and possibly a showdown with Class A favorite Fairview in the Harbor Creek tournament. The Huskies, on paper, should struggle with massive graduation losses. Harbor Creek’s program, however, is in terrific shape. The Huskies haven’t lost a region match in two years and it will take a big effort to stop them this fall.
