Fairview Tigers
Coach (season, record): Ashley Cottengim (3rd season, 16-17)
2011 overall record: 8-8
2011 region record (place): 8-8 (tied for fourth)
2011 playoff results: Did not qualify for the District 10 Class AA playoffs.
Top player lost: Elise Kaveney
Top returning players: Hailey Thompson, Kelsey Musich, Paige Haney, Roni Lipinski, Rachel Loper
Assistant coach: Danielle Brunot
Outlook: Fairview is making strides under third-year coach Ashley Cottengim. The Tigers have been competitive in Region 5 and could be a dangerous team this fall. Fairview will be young but it can turn to Hailey Thompson, a returning all-region first-team selection as an outside hitter. Thompson provides senior leadership, while juniors Kelsey Musich (libero) and Paige Haney (outside hitter) are back as well. Sophomore hitters Roni Lipinski and Rachel Loper are primed for breakout seasons this year. Hannah Rossman could step in as the starting setter as a sophomore to add depth to a young Fairview team. The Tigers will have some obstacles to overcome but they won’t be an easy out for powerhouses Fort LeBoeuf and General McLane in region play. Fairview gained valuable experience last year and only lost Elise Kaveney to graduation. With Corry out of Region 5, Fairview could make a serious run at the top 3 spots in the region. If the Tigers can pull an upset or two, they may be in the hunt for a playoff spot.

Fairview Tigers
Coach (season, record): Ashley Cottengim (2nd season, 8-9)
2010 overall record: 8-9
2010 region record (place): 8-8 (fifth)
2010 playoff results: Did not qualify for the District 10 playoffs.
Top players lost: Georgia Konzel, Kelly Heher, Justine Lackey, Allison Carey, Jocelyn Lion, Erin Stroup
Top returning players: Elise Kaveney, Hailey Thompson, Kayla Kupniewski, Raven Rozantz
Assistant coach: Jill McGill
Outlook: Fairview will be young this season after losing six seniors to graduation and will look for some help from the underclassmen in camp. The Tigers lost several talented players, including all-region second-team hitter Georgia Konzel. Fairview has some experience back in senior Elise Kaveney and juniors Hailey Thompson, Kayla Kupniewski and Raven Rozantz. Several returning players are softball players and are looking to carry that success over to the volleyball court. Sophomore libero Kelsey Musich could make an impact on the varsity level this fall. The Tigers have to deal with several powerhouses in region play but if they can get some help filling in the holes left by graduation they might be a surprise team.
