Fall Fastbreak – Mercer

Mercer Mustangs
Boys
Coach (season, record): Doug Schmid (3rd season, 9-35)
2010-11 overall record: 3-19
2010-11 region record (place): 1-9 (sixth)
2010-11 playoff results: Did not qualify for the District 10 Class AA playoffs.
Top players lost: Justin Glass, Josh Verigood
Top returning player: Bill Selders
Assistant coaches: Mark Guiler, Dan Weikal, Allen Kroll, Brenton Bestwick
Outlook: Mercer will try to get back on track this winter but it won’t be easy. Justin Glass and Josh Verigood graduated, leaving some big roles for third-year coach Doug Schmid to fill in. Bill Selders is back after a strong football season and is a leader for the Mustangs. Mercer will rely on a strong defense this year and hope it leads to more offense. The Mustangs will be young with a strong presence of freshmen on the team this season. Mercer will need to build some chemistry in camp and develop as a team in order to compete in a tough region.
