Top players lost: Peter Keim, Dan McCallion, Andre Kroemer, Dan McClune
Top returning players: Zack Benedict, Kirk Dillen, Parker McDermott, Bryan Olson, Connor Scully
Assistant coach: Dan Young
Outlook: General McLane put together a terrific 2011 season to win its third District 10 championship in program history. The Lancers will look to avoild rebuilding this year after losing 12 seniors to graduation. Among those graduates are Peter Keim, Dan McCallion, Andre Kroemer and Dan McClune. Keim, an all-district selection, was voted the Region 5 Player of the Year and to the all-region first team on offense. He finished with 20 goals and five assists last fall. McCallion and Kroemer were defensive specialists last year. McCallion was voted to the all-region second team. McClune scored twice last season and a high-energy player for the Lancers. McLane will have some experience back to lead the underclassmen. Zack Benedict, Kirk Dillen, Parker McDermott, Bryan Olson and Connor Scully were impact players last fall and could be leaders this year. Benedict was a first-team selection on offense last fall after scoring six goals and collecting three assists. Dillen (goalkeeper) and McDermott (defense) were second-team picks. Dillen had a 1.24 GAA and made 150 saves as a junior. Olson (offense) and Scully (defense) are returning starters from last year. McLane could have a solid future as coach Josh Hopkins reports that the Lancers have a large freshman class coming in with 15-18 players interested in soccer. McLane will have to battle this year to repeat as region and district champions this fall. With massive graduation losses, the Lancers will need several new players to step up this year.

2011 playoff results: Lost to Hickory 5-0 in the District 10 Class AA quarterfinals.
Top players lost: Becca Albert, Leanne Schaefer, Sydney Ericson, T.L. Wreh-Wilson
Top returning players: Shannon Regan, Lexie Perka, Laura Schaefer, Claire Pilewski
Outlook: General McLane broke through and made the District 10 Class AA playoffs last fall. The Lancers will need to reload quickly to get back to the postseason. McLane lost six starters to graduation, including standouts Becca Albert, Leanne Schaefer, Sydney Ericson and T.L. Wreh-Wilson. Albert was an all-region first-team selection offense, while Ericson made the first team on defense. Schaefer (offense) and Wreh-Wilson (defense) were all-region, second-team picks. The Lancers have some experience back to turn to. Shannon Regan, an all-region second-team selection, is back to lead a young offense, while first-team defender Lexi Perka returns as well. McLane has several up-and-coming players, including sophomore Laura Schaefer. She stepped up in a big way last year to be voted to the first team on offense. Senior Claire Pilewski made strides last year and could be a big-time contributor as well. The Lancers have experience back but six seniors loss to graduation will be tough for McLane to deal with early on. With strong underclassmen in the program, building chemistry in camp will be important this year. The Lancers have to deal with rival Harbor Creek against this season along with Cambridge Springs, which moves up to AA after a successful 2011 season in Class A. McLane has the ability to return to the playoffs but it will be to the Lancers to realize that potential.
