Linesville Lions
Coach (season, record): Tim Schleicher (6th season, 38-47)
2010 overall record: 18-3
2010 region record (place): 13-1 (co-champion)
2010 playoff results: Lost in the District 10 Class A semifinals.
Top players lost: Jessica Uzarski, Amanda Sharpless
Top returning players: Amber Litwiler, Marissa Johnson, Carly Bone, Challen Litwiler, Kimberly Litwin
Assistant coaches: Debbie Johnson, Dale Flickenger
Outlook: Linesville made school history in 2010 with the program’s first league title by sharing the Region 2 championship with Maplewood. The Lions lost a few standouts to graduation in Jessica Uzarski and Amanda Sharpless and will be a young team this fall. Amber Litwiler is back after a terrific junior year, which she was named to the all-district team, the all-region first team and the Region 2 co-Player of the Year. She was also voted to the all-state team by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association. Also returning for Linesville are all-region selections Marissa Johnson (senior), Challen Litwiler (sophomore) and Kimberly Litwin (sophomore). Senior Carly Bone contributed last year and could play a big role on this year’s team as well. Region 2 is a brutal region with all four teams in the District 10 Class A semifinals from Region 2. Linesville will need some underclassmen to fill in the varsity rotation this fall and could be a contender for the D-10 title once again.

Linesville Lions
Coach (season, record): Pat Gould (7th season, 40-24)
2010 overall record: 6-4
2010 region record (place): 5-3 (tied for third)
2010 playoff results: Did not qualify for the District 10 playoffs.
Top players lost: Jack Sindlinger, Denny Diodati, A.J. Thompson, Dustin Buchanan
Top returning players: Jimmy Kearns, Jace Pardee, Dylan Merritt, Jon Weidner
Assistant coaches: Bill Stevenson, Nate Liberty, Doug Tucker
Outlook: Linesville coach Pat Gould has an interesting situation this fall. With Conneaut Lake consolidating with the Lions’ program, Gould has more players to choose from but at the same time is responsible for giving the former Indians a shot at earning a starting spot. The competition in camp should be intense and could create an even better Region 1 power. Linesville has some holes to fill with all-region members A.J. Thomspon, Jack Sindlinger and Denny Diodati gone to graduation as well as Dustin Buchanan. The Lions return Jimmy Kearns, Jace Pardee, Dylan Merritt and Jon Weidner and should be bolstered by the addition of the returning Indians from Lake. The biggest issue will be getting everyone to play as one team regardless of school but Gould is confident that the team is already coming together. The consolidation could be a plus with more players adding depth to the Lions’ team. Linesville will have two homecomings this season, one for Linesville and one for Conneaut Lake. The Lions will play varsity games on their home field with some of the lower levels still using Conneaut Lake’s field. Linesville didn’t get any favors from the schedule-makers with games against Lakeview, Mercer and Farrell in three straight weeks, but the Lions will have nearly a month to prepare for that brutal stretch.
