Titusville Rockets
Girls
Coach (season, record): Rick Shrout (6th season, 51-43-4)
2010 overall record: 12-6-1
2010 region record (place): 5-0-1 (champion)
2010 playoff results: Lost 2-0 to Villa Maria in the District 10 Class AA quarterfinals.
Top players lost: Dorothy Stromdahl, Alecia Weldon, Samantha Boyle, Jennifer Bleday, Lisa Conner
Top returning players: Faith Champion, Grace Champion, Natilee Zdarko, Lindsey Downing
Assistant coach: Kim Wheeling
Outlook: Titusville will have some work to do in camp replacing seven seniors, including six starters. Among the graduates were all-region goalkeeper Dorothy Stromdahl and all-region midfielder Alecia Weldon. Also gone are all-region picks Samantha Boyle, Jennifer Bleday and Lisa Conner. The cupboard won’t be empty for coach Rick Shrout. Faith Champion, the Rockets’ leading scorer, and her twin sister Grace Champion, a defender, are back to lead the way along with school-record holder in assists Natilee Zdarko. All three were first-team all-region selections, while Faith Champion was the Region 4 co-Player of the Year. The Rockets have a few prospects on the lower level that could step up this fall. Sophomores Gage Holmes and Kori Maifeld could see playing time, while juniors Cierria Kaczmarek, Jennifer Kellogg and Jale Funte and senior Kari Sutton could be contributors this season.

Titusville Rockets
Coach (season, record): Scott Salvo (7th season, 24-34)
2010 overall record: 0-10
2010 region record (place): 0-5 (sixth)
2010 playoff results: Did not qualify for the District 10 playoffs.
Top player lost: Cody Rodgers
Top returning players: Drew Sneeringer, Sam Bodamer
Assistant coaches: Greg Houck, Dan Ledebur, Tom Hancock, Brian Skokowsk
Outlook: Titusville’s starting lineup on both sides of the ball was full of freshmen and sophomores last year. The growing pains of last year could pay off this fall. The Rockets have a tough team with plenty of experience. Titusville lost Cody Rodgers to graduation but the return of Drew Sneeringer at quarterback and Sam Bodamer on both sides of the ball will help from a leadership standpoint. Alex Kline started to see some varsity action last year and will look to earn more playing time as a fullback and linebacker. The key this season will be building confidence. The Rockets play in a brutal region with teams that are big and fast. Once Titusville starts playing together, the wins will come. The juniors on this year’s team have gone through two full seasons and know what it will take to start winning games in Region 3.
