Amber Bacon

This week’s Varsity print edition’s Athletes of the Week — the awards are not related to the Breakout Athletes of the Week — were chosen before we realized they had something in common: the same last name.

Fort LeBoeuf senior Kevin Gardner high jumped 6 feet 5 inches at the Erie County Classic about two weeks after having surgery to remove his appendix.

Union City sophomore Eve Gardner won three events at the Erie County Classic.

Both will compete Saturday at the District 10 Class AA track and field championships at Hickory’s Hornet Stadium.
