Villa Maria Victors
Softball
Coach (season, record): Brian Leuschen (4th season, 12-36)
2012 overall record: 3-15
2012 region record (place): 3-15 (ninth)
2012 playoff results: Did not qualify for the District 10 playoffs.
Top players lost: Katie Leuschen, Elizabeth Nawrocki
Top returning players: Kayla Schlosser, Jackie Colish, Emily Luteran, Shelby Graml, Maria Colt, DaShawna Coleman, Madison Malec, Emma Knight
Assistant coaches: Alyssa Ogrodowczyk, Kaitlin Leuschen
Outlook: Villa Maria went through a tough season in 2012 but had a young team. Katie Leuschen and Elizabeth Nawrocki graduated leaving two spots to fill in the lineup. Leuschen hit .404 as a senior with 23 RBIs on 21 hits. Nawrocki scored 11 runs and had a .232 average. The Victors return Kayla Schlosser, Jackie Colish, Emily Luteran, Shelby Graml, Maria Colt, DaShawna Coleman, Madison Malec and Emma Knight this season. Graml is a returning all-region selection as an outfielder. Colish hit .32 last year, while Coleman is back from injury. Villa could also receive big contributions from new players Alicia Olson, Lexi Lazar, Madison Jarrett, Sierra Neely, Makaela Weber, Nicole Geanous and Jess Vybril. The Victors have a strong defense and return Luteran from injury to take the mound. Villa also has a strong freshman class to contribute this season. The Victors are young in certain places but experienced in most. Villa is still building its program up and could be a dangerous team this year. Region 4 is loaded with solid teams but Villa could become one of those solid teams as well.

Villa Maria Victors
Softball
Coach (season, record): Brian Leuschen (3rd season, 9-27)
2011 overall record: 6-12
2011 region record (place): 6-12 (seventh)
2011 playoff results: Did not qualify for the District 10 playoffs.
Top players lost: Katie Machalinski, Chelsea Signorino
Top returning players: Katie Leuschen, Shelby Graml, Emily Luteran, Kayla Schlosser, Jacalyn Colish, Elizabeth Nawrocki, Kelly McCall
Assistant coaches: Tom Pochatko, Alyssa Ogrodowczyk
Outlook: Villa Maria could make things interesting in Region 4 this season. The Victors have a talented but inexperienced group of freshmen and sophomores. The underclassmen could play a big role in complementing the veteran upperclassmen. Villa has to replace Katie Machalinski and Chelsea Signorino but the Victors return Katie Leuschen, Shelby Graml, Emily Luteran, Kayla Schlosser, Jacalyn Colish, Elizabeth Nawrocki and Kelly McCall. Graml is an all-region selection while Nawrocki is back from a knee injury. Villa could receive big contributions from freshmen Deshawna Coleman, Maria Colt, Madison Malec, Emma Knight, Stephany Chido and Christine Matson. The lack of depth could catch up to Villa if injuries occur but the Victors will be a tough out early in the season.
