Erie Times-News Breakout Swimmer/Diver of the Week nominees

Following are the nominees for the Breakout Swimmers/Divers of the Week. Vote in the polls at right before Tuesday’s 11:59 p.m. deadline.

BOYS

Ryan Campbell, Mercyhurst Prep: One of three talented freshmen for the Lakers, Campbell won the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.76) and 500 free (5:24.49) Thursday in the Lakers’ win over Meadville. He also led off the winning 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. Against Strong Vincent on Feb. 13, he swam on each of the three winning relays.
Justin Ditmore, General McLane:
He won the 50 free (24.44) and 100 free (54.79) and was a member of the first-place 200 medley relay in the Lancers’ loss to North East Feb. 13.
Kevin Intrieri, McDowell:
The senior turned in superb times in the winning the 200 free (1:46.66) and 100 free (47.31) in the Trojans’ loss to Cathedral Prep Feb. 13. He also anchored the winning 200 free relay.
Pat Milkowski, Strong Vincent:
He had first-place finishes in the 50 free (25.17), 100 butterfly (1:05.51) and 400 free relay in the Colonels’ loss to Iroquois.
R.J. Rahner, Cathedral Prep:
He set a McDowell pool record with a time of 52.15 seconds in the 100 butterfly Feb. 13 in the Ramblers’ win over McDowell. He also swam on the winning 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.
Mike Reed, North East:
He had wins in the 200 IM (2:20.76), 100 breaststroke (1:13.28), 200 free relay and 400 free relay in the Grapepickers’ victory over General McLane Feb. 13.
Danny Roberts,
Fairview: The senior won his third consecutive title at the McDowell Diving Invitational with a score of 554.15 Saturday, establishing pool and meet records.
Bennett Steber,
Warren: Turned in winning efforts in the 200 IM (2:19.27), 100 breaststroke (1:06.08), 200 medley relay and 200 free relay Thursday in the Dragons’ win over Corry.
Dalton
Zebrak, Iroquois: He won the 200 IM (2:27.51) and 500 free (5:46.54) and swam on the winning 400 free relay on Iroquois’ win over Strong Vincent Thursday. In the Braves’ win over Union City Feb. 13, he won the 500 free (5:50.10) and swam on all three winning relays.

GIRLS

Ellis Beardsley, Warren: She turned in first-place performances in the 50-yard freestyle (27.59), 100 freestyle (59.80), 200 medley relay and 200 free relay in the Dragons’ win over Corry Thursday.
Ashley Benovic, Iroquois:
She won the 100 backstroke (1:06.52) and tied for first in the 500 free (27.69) in the Braves’ win over Strong Vincent Thursday. She also was a member of the winning 200 medley and 400 free relays.  In a victory over Union City Feb. 13, she had wins in the 50 free (27.76), 100 back (1:07.23) and 400 free relay.
Carolyn Eckendorf,
Fairview: She turned in a six-dive score of 236.30 while winning the diving competition against Harbor Creek Feb. 13. She then placed second in the McDowell Diving Invitational with a score of 440.45 Saturday. That was a Fairview 11-dive record.
Bekah Edder, Girard:
In the YellowJackets’ victory over Corry Feb. 13, she won the 50 free (27.14) and 100 free (1:01.46) and anchored the first-place 200 free and 400 free relays.
Hannah Feucht, North East:
In the Grapepickers’ win over General McLane Feb. 13, she won the 50 free (25.10) and 100 free (55.99) and swam on the first-place 200 free and 400 free relays.
Marie Georger, Mercyhurst Prep:
She won the 200 free (1:59.56) and 500 free (5:14.67) as the Lakers beat Strong Vincent Feb. 13. She also anchored the winning 400 free relay. Against Meadville Thursday, she had wins in the 200 IM (2:11.79) and all three relays.
Kristen Overholt, McDowell:
The senior repeated as champion at the McDowell Diving Invitational Saturday with an 11-dive score of 445.70 points.
