   November 7, 2012 10:33 am    11

District 10 is down to two soccer teams and both travel. The Mercyhurst Prep girls will play Mars at 1 p.m. at Franklin High School. The Harbor Creek boys leave D-10 to play Bedford at 5 p.m. at North Allegheny High School.

Volleyball sites will be out later today.

  1. Seriously what is wrong with the sports in the erie times news? Harbocreek boys soccer team doesnt even get front page???? I understand putting the girls there but McDowell? Come on, these kids work their butts off to get the type of record they have and not even a picture??? This is utterly ridiculous -

      Debra,
I think the term “utterly ridiculous” is pretty unfair when it comes to our coverage. One thing you have to understand is we have one photographer at night and we were lucky to even have one last night with the elections going on. The photographer took photos of the early Mercyhurst game, ran to the stadium to get McDowell then right out to election coverage.

The only reason McDowell was on the cover is because we were able to get photos of them.

Also, I believe Harbor Creek has had four photos in our paper over the last few days, including Koltin Hammer on the cover.

We were at three sites last night to cover PIAA playoff games and still couldn’t get to Fort LeBoeuf volleyball. We do the best we can with what we have and to say that our coverage is “utterly ridiculous” is a little over the line.

      Thank you for the feedback,
      Tom Reisenweber

I will agree with Tom on this one. The ETN , in my opnion does a wonderful job of covering sports not only in Erie but all of D-10. I may not always agree with the opnion of the writers but they still do a great job of covering sports in D-10.

Seriously what is wrong with the sports in the Erie Times News? LeBoeuf Girls volleyball team doesnt even get front page???? Why is it always Soccer?? :-)

Debra – I agree with that comment. GoErie shows favorites to a few different schools throughout D-10 and Harbor Creek is not one of them. You would think the fact that our girls won D-10 last year and boys this year they would start giving us a little publicity, but they haven’t. It has always been like this, and always will. Just learn to accept it, I don’t foresee things changing.

      harborcreekFan101,
I would love for you to give any concrete examples of us being “biased” against the Harbor Creek soccer teams. In the past week, we’ve had four photos of them in our paper, several stories, have a feature story going in tomorrow and we are traveling to North Allegheny despite our limited resources on a day where we have playoff football, volleyball, soccer and numerous collegiate events.

      Thank you,
      Tom Reisenweber

Tom – just saying as generally throughout 1 single school season. You see more publicity given to Prep, MPS, McDowell.. ect. The larger schools. Yes, indeed I give them credit for excelling in the athletic area, it just seems us smaller schools get forgotten sometimes. No hard feelings on the topic, was just informing Debra that is how it is.

    • Tom Reisenweber says:

My point is that is not how it is. That may be how you perceive it but we cover everyone equally.

      Thank you,

    Tom,
Your paper does a great job covering HS sports in our area. I challenge the people who are giving the negative comments to visit other papers online and try to find the coverage your paper provides. I have no complaints about the coverage of our girls Soccer and Volleyball teams this fall and we’re one of the “smaller” schools. Keep up the good work!!

Seriously Debra your comment is utterly ridiculous. Tom and his small staff do the best they can and not every school is going to make front page….sorry. You need to get over it and move on.
