Harbor Creek Huskies
Boys
Coach (season, record): Jason Dolak (4th season, 32-35)
2011-12 overall record: 10-13
2011-12 region record (place): 7-7 (tied for fourth)
2011-12 playoff results: Lost to Franklin 54-38 in a District 10 Class AAA play-in game.
Top players lost: Austin Griffith, Drew Barko, Bremont Robison, Lucas Mattson
Top returning players: Joe Zoltowski, Isaac Mattson, Jake Stanopiewicz, Adam Renshaw
Assistant coaches: Ryan Munson, Jeff Dolak
Outlook: Harbor Creek has been on the rise over the past few years and made its way into the postseason last winter. The Huskies have just two playoff appearances in the past nine years but they could make another run at the District 10 playoffs. Austin Griffith, Drew Barko, Bremont Robison and Lucas Mattson graduated leaving some holes in the starting lineup. Joe Zoltowski and Isaac Mattson are back as returning starters and could be counted on to lead a young and inexperienced team. Zoltowski scored 11.4 points per game last year to be voted to the all-region second team, while Mattson averaged 7.3 ppg. Seniors Jake Stanopiewicz and Adam Renshaw could step into starting roles and provide some experience for the Huskies, while Adam Whitcomb, Malique Mitchell, Charlie Mazur and A.J. Rogers could contribute right away after big years with the junior varsity last winter. Harbor Creek will have some size issues this year but leadership and talent could outweigh that disadvantage. Region 6 is even tougher this year with the addition of Strong Vincent but the Huskies could be hunting a playoff spot by February.

Girls
Coach (season, record): Mark Corey (2nd season, 12-10)
2011-12 overall record: 12-10
2011-12 region record (place): 6-8 (fifth)
2011-12 playoff results: Did not qualify for the District 10 Class AAA playoffs.
Top players lost: Stephanie Corey, Karmella Kienholz, Casey Carnell, Crystal Taccone
Top returning players: Sadie Zielinski, Tash Brigham, Cami Sicker, Maggie Lawrence, Theresa Fachetti
Assistant coaches: Bob Rzodkiewicz, Scott Hinman
Outlook: Harbor Creek had success under first-year coach Mark Corey last winter and the Huskies will look to build on that this year. Harbor Creek will have to replace three starters and experience after the graduation of Stephanie Corey, Karmella Kienholz, Casey Carnell and Crystal Taccone. Corey was one of the top passers in the area last winter, while Kienholz was voted to the all-region second team. Harbor Creek returns Sadie Zielinski and Theresa Fachetti as starters along with Tash Brigham, Cami Sicker and Maggie Lawrence. The Huskies could also receive immediate contributions from juniors Monica Warner and Khloe Kienholz along with sophomores Tiffany Taccone, Alaina Kruszewski and Maddie Carnell. The Huskies built chemistry over the summer and could be a surprise team in their region this season. Mercyhurst Prep and Villa Maria are the favorites but the Huskies are building confidence and could be a dangerous team in region play.
