Would I be correct in thinking that if Hickory and Grove City win in tonights football games Mercer county will have made a clean sweep in the D-10 football playoffs?

Great season for the Huskies! Coaching staff really deserves a lot of credit for the getting their team ready for every game and putting out a great squad. They definitely looked liked like a top ten team in the state and looked a team to make it to states. Hopefully the school recognizes their efforts!

Wondering why the D-10 committee didn’t have play in games for the northern teams like they did to get Fairview into the D-10 tourney in soccer. Southern teams went 8-0 in A and AA. How can the committee justify leaving Kennedy Catholic and Mercer out of A and Sharon and Reynolds out of AA when they are clearly coming from a much tougher portion of D-10. It appears that the same logic involved in Boys Soccer should be applied here to Football. No way Eisenhower or Corry play .500 ball in the Mercer County sections in football this year, especially after being plowed this year by the 4th place teams down in the south, and in venues very close to their homes. And I agreed the northern soccer is superior to southern soccer, and that Fairview was better than KC.

You may be getting a little carried away with Mercer and KC football being added to the playoff picture. However I do think that an arguement can be made for Reynolds not being given an opportunity. It seems to me that their are seperate guidelines and criteria for football in the D-10 commmittee’s mind. Overall I don’t have a problem taking the top four teams from each region for the playoffs in football. But I do have a problem when the same criteria is not applied in other sports. What upsets most about the soccer situation is that now that it is over it will be forgotten about and no changes or discussions will occer (my opnion) I don’t know how to institute change in an organization that has historically opposed input from the public on any issue. In my opnion football and basketball and most of the other sports offered in D-10 are sports model after the higher level play in the same sport. In soccer D-10 does not model after the higher level play of that sport. If the committe would take the time to investigate how successful soccer leagues are managed and run they may find that how they are running it now can be easily modified and improved upon so that situations that have been occuring in d-10 soccer over the last 5 or 6 years can be avoided.
