The Burger King Classic field will be announced by Cathedral Prep athletic director Bill Flanagan this afternoon. The three teams coming to the Hammermill Center January 18-19, include Bishop O’Connell out of Arlington, Virgina along with Philadelphia powerhouses Lower Merion and Imhotep Charter. Bishop O’Connell will take on Lower Merion at 7 p.m. in the semifinals, followed by Prep and Imhotep Charter at 8:30 p.m. The consolation (7 p.m.) and championship (8:30 p.m.) will be the following day on Jan. 19.

Imhotep Charter has three Class AA state championships in the past three years. They moved to Class AAA this season and feature all-state first-team selection Brandon Austin, a 6-6 senior forward. He has offers from Connecitcut, Georgetown, Temple, Texas and Xavier but has committed to Penn State. Imhotep also has D-1 recruit Nigel Grant, a 6-6 senior, along with 6-6 junior prospect Basil Thompson.

Bishop O’Connell, which is making its second appearance in tournament history, has five state championships in the past 10 years. Coach Joe Wooten is the son of legendary Morgan Wooten, and has several D-1 recruits at his disposal. Junior Etou, a 6-7 senior forward, has offers from Kansas State, Maryland and West Virginia along with 6-2 junior guard Romelo Trimble, who has offers from Notre Dame, Villanova and West Virginia.
