Erie Times-News Breakout Athlete of the Week nominees

Fans can vote for the Breakout Athlete of the Week on the top right corner of the page. Voting continues through Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. with the winners being featured in the Erie Times-News. Fans are encouraged to nominate athletes by 5 p.m. each Saturday by sending an e-mail to sports@timesnews.com. Athletes who have won this season are no longer eligible.

Boys basketball
Noah Uplinger, Conneaut – Finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds in a 67-52 win over Sharpsville.
Alex Boylan, Jamestown – Scored 24 points in a 60-39 loss to Maplewood.
Matt Votino, Hickory – Had a huge week for the Hornets. It started off with 34 points in a 65-58 win over Sharon. Votino went over 1,000 career points in the win, which included a clutch bucket with 43 seconds left. He also had 18 points and seven assists in a thrilling 65-63 double overtime win against Franklin.
Matthew Dogan, West Middlesex – Had 19 points in a 46-34 win over Lakeview. He also finished with 25 points and six assists in a 78-37 win over Greenville.
Derek Turner, Grove City – Finished with 31 points in an 89-83 win over George Junior.
Chad Ferguson, Greenville – Scored 18 points in a 46-43 win over Mercer.
Logan Clarke, Mercer - Had 24 points in a 46-43 loss to Greenville.
Garrett Frable, Reynolds – Had 22 points in a 60-56 win over Wilmington.
Brandon Rice, Lakeview – Scored 19 points in a 70-44 win over Cambridge Springs.
Tyler Luchey, Sharpsville – Finished with 16 points in a 50-45 win over Reynolds.
Ike Jones, Farrell – Had 23 points in a 64-55 win against Grove City.
Khalil Hopson, Sharon – Scored 17 points in a 64-45 win over Slippery Rock.
Jeff Thompkins, Kennedy Catholic – Erupted for 27 points in a 99-60 win against VisionQuest.
Andrew Williams, Oil City – Finished with 26 points in an 80-62 win over George Junior.
Zak Price, Meadville – Had 22 points in a 60-48 win against Franklin.
Tyler Copeland, Titusville – Scored 24 points in an 87-69 win over Northwestern.
Deishaaron Gilmore, Central Tech – Had 10 points. 10 blocks and eight rebounds in a thrilling 67-60 win over McDowell.
Brian McNally, Girard – Drained two late free throws to help the YellowJackets knock off Warren 52-51.
Andy Niland, Fairview - Hit a shot with two seconds left to sent a 52-49 win over Seneca to overtime.
Mike Boccio, Fort LeBoeuf - Finished with 12 points and 19 rebounds in a 43-40 win over Corry.
Jaymon Mason, General McLane – Continued his impressive season with 30 points in a 60-47 win over Harbor Creek. He then went over 1,000 career points in a loss to Cathedral Prep.
Valentine Sangoyomi, Erie First – Scored 29 points in a 55-35 win over Christian Life.
Sheldon Zablotny, Cathedral Prep – Had 21 points in an 84-37 win over St. Francis and had 22 points and 11 rebounds in a 63-53 win over General McLane.
Malquan Pullium, Strong Vincent – Scored 23 points on four 3-pointers in an 80-60 win over East. He also had 20 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, as the Colonels beat Girard 54-42.
Joey Lobenthal, Iroquois - Had 21 points in a 54-50 win over Northwestern.
Alex Johnson, Mercyhurst Prep – Scored 21 points in a 67-38 win over rival Fairview.

Girls basketball
Rachel Burns, Kennedy Catholic – Had 18 points in a 72-14 win over Jamestown. She also had 10 points and three assists in a 53-34 win over Grove City. Burns then scored 12 points in a 51-40 win over Upper St. Clair.
Tanayja Sanders, Sharon – Scored 26 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in a 68-44 win over Lakeview.
Brian Gambill, Farrell – Achieved a career high with 23 points in a 65-34 win over Commodore Perry.
Amber Nerlich, Rocky Grove – Had 19 points in a 42-31 win over Reynolds.
Megan McKinney, Mercer - Collected 25 points and 10 steals in a 54-33 win over Lakeview.
Megan Davis, Sharpsville – Scored a career-high 22 points in a 50-30 win over Wilmington. He also had 16 points in a 48-42 win against Fort LeBoeuf.
Jenna Placzek, Hickory – Finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds and three steals in a 66-12 win against Titusville.
Kristen Baker, Conneaut – Scored 15 points in a 43-14 win over Reynolds.
Alexis Summers, West Middlesex – Had 21 points in a 56-46 win over Hubbard.
Haley Angerett, Slippery Rock – Finished with 18 points on four 3-pointers as the Rockets beat Oil City 54-35.
Kendell Dickson, Cochranton – Scored 21 points as the Cardinals beat Maplewood 49-20.
Hayley Andres, Franklin – Had 16 points in a 68-31 win over Oil City.
Madalyn Nicols, Maplewood – Finished with 21 points, nine rebounds and five steals in a 78-40 win over Union City.
Amanda Sonney, Seneca – Had a breakout week with 19 points early on in a Bobcat win before adding 22 in a 50-35 win over Harbor Creek.
Michelle Jahn, General McLane – Scored 27 points in a 55-42 win against Fairview.
Brenna Robbins, Mercyhurst Prep – Finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a 54-28 win over Harbor Creek. She also pulled down 13 rebounds in a 24-20 loss to Villa Maria.
Jaimie Eaton, Warren – Scored 21 points in a 75-32 win over Fort LeBoeuf.
Alex Artise, North East – Had 17 points in an important 29-26 win over Girard.
Maria Welch, Girard – Finished with 16 points in a 52-21 win against Iroquois.
Abby Klemm, Central Tech – Scored 15 points in a 58-44 win over East.
Alisha Yoder, Corry – Put the Beavers ahead with a bucket with 34 seconds left and secured the 34-32 win over East with a free throw with seven seconds left.
Amesha Harden-Pulliium, Villa Maria – Scored eight points and was clutch on defense in a 24-20 win over Mercyhurst Prep.

Boys swimming/diving
Phil Emerson, Franklin – Had three event wins in an 86-48 win over Hickory. He won the 100 free and was on two winning relay teams.
Tyler Lockhart, Oil City – Won four events in a 79-79 tie with Rocky Grove. He won the 50 free, the 100 butterfly and was on two victorious relay teams.
Robert Sikatzki, Fairview – Had four event wins in a sweep of Union City. He won the 100 butterfly, the 100 backstroke and was part of two winning relay teams.
Lloyd Koester, General McLane – Won four events in a win over Girard. He won the 50 free, the 100 butterfly and was in two winning relays. He also set school and pool records in the 50 free and 100 butterfly against Corry.
Braden Smith, Iroquois – Had three event wins in a sweep of Corry. He won the 50 free and 100 backstroke and was part of a winning relay.
Brent Benedict, Corry - Won four events in a loss to Iroquois, including the 100 butterfly, the 500 free and two relays.
Chip Oberle, North East - Finished with four event wins in a win over Harbor Creek. He won the 200 free and the 500 free and was on two winning relay teams.
Mike Squeglia, Cathedral Prep – Won four events in an impressive win over Mercyhurst Prep.
Austin Walls, Central Tech – Had two individual and two team wins in a sweep of East.

Girls swimming/diving
Katelyn Steigerwald, Franklin – Won three events in a sweep of Sharon. She won the 200 IM, the 500 free and was part of a winning relay. She also won four events in a 91-76 win against Hickory. Steigerwald also won an event at the North East Invitational.
Kasey Hutchinson, Oil City – Had three event wins in a 103-29 win over Rocky Grove. She won the 50 free, the 100 breaststroke and was on a winning relay team.
Hannah Feucht, North East – Won two events and was named the most outstanding swimmer at the North East Invitational. She won the 50 free and the 100 backstroke and set the school record in the 100 backstroke at 1:00.45.
Mallory Lawson, Fairview - Won the 100 breaststroke at the North East Invitational and was part of two winning relay teams. She also won three events against Union City.
Abigail Parsons, Slippery Rock – Took home the 100 butterfly championship at the North East Invitational.
Maggie Stebick, Union City – Won the diving portion of the North East Invitational.
Delaney Drushel, Girard - Won the 100 backstroke and 100 free and was in two winning relay teams in a loss to General McLane.
Joanna Ragen, Iroquois – Had four event wins in a sweep of Corry. She won the 200 free and the 500 free and was in two winning relays.
Ania Gorski, Harbor Creek - Won the 100 free, the 50 free and was on two winning relay teams in a win over North East.
Rylee Klomp, Mercyhurst Prep – Had four event wins against Villa Maria and Strong Vincent.

Wrestling
Dakota Geer, Franklin – Picked up a crucial pin at 152 pounds to help the Knights beat Sharon 36-35.
Sam Breese, Lakeview – Continued his impressive season with a pin at 285 pounds to help the Sailors beat West Middlesex 40-34.
Jarray Norris, Sharon – Dominated at the South Side Beaver duals with five wins.
John Beach, Oil City – Earned a 41-second pin in a 51-27 win over East.
Trevor Beiter, Seneca – Pinned the top-ranked wrestler in D-10 from Eisenhower in a 42-19 win over the Knights.
Tim Suydan, Corry – Had a terrific week, including pins in two duals and winning the 220-pound bracket at the Slippery Rock tournament.
Keller Watkins, General McLane -Won a tough overtime match at 126 pounds to spark the Lancers to a 54-12 win over Cathedral Prep.
Jeff Burger, Union City – Was part of a dominating effort by the Bears in a 60-15 win over Cambridge Springs. Burger earned a pin at 285 pounds.
Eli Humes, Fort LeBoeuf - Earned a key decision at 182 pounds to help the Bison beat Cathedral Prep 38-18.
Andrew Welton, Central Tech – Had a solid week, including the 285-pound championship at the Slippery Rock tournament. He defeated D-1 wrestler Forrest Christmann 2-0 in the title match and it was Welton’s 100th win.
Jordan Bryan, North East – Won the 160-pound championship at the Slippery Rock tournament.
