Erie Times-News Breakout Athlete of the Week nominees

Fans can vote for the Breakout Athlete of the Week on the top right corner of the page. Voting continues through Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. with the winners being featured in the Erie Times-News. Fans are encouraged to nominate athletes by 5 p.m. each Saturday by sending an e-mail to sports@timesnews.com. Athletes who have won this season are no longer eligible.

Boys basketball
Khalil Hopson, Sharon – Scored 36 points in an emotional 66-43 win over Grove City.
Matthew Dogan, West Middlesex – Had 29 points in a 90-49 win over Mercer. He also had 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists in a 97-74 win over Beaver.
Noah Uplinger, Conneaut – Scored 28 points in a 48-45 win over Greenville.
Demetrius McLennan, VisionQuest - Had 31 points and 31 rebounds in an 80-62 win over Wilmington.
Anthony Cannone, Hickory – Finished with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in a 71-49 win over Grove City.
Donte Hollingsworth, Meadville - Scored 25 points in a 66-49 win over George Junior.
Garrett Frable, Reynolds – Had 18 points in a 47-36 win over Greenville.
Chris James, Kennedy Catholic – Scored a career-high 25 points in a 77-40 win over VisionQuest.
Logan Clarke, Mercer – Had 28 points in a 66-60 upset of Sharpsville.
Adam Kirwin, Rocky Grove – Scored a career-high 22 points in a 54-51 win over Commodore Perry.
Corey Ciccarelli, Titusville - Had 18 points in a 61-55 win over Seneca.
Noah Jones, Franklin – Finished with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks in a 54-46 win over Oil City.
Nick Dickson, Cochranton – Had 12 points and 10 rebounds in a 54-31 win over Maplewood.
Conor Colpoys, Cathedral Prep – Finished with six assists and a career-high 23 points in a 74-60 win over Central Tech.
Joey Zoltowski, Harbor Creek – Scored 23 points in a 53-47 overtime win over Warren.
Jaymon Mason, General McLane – Continued his spectacular year with 34 points in a 76-58 win over East. He also had 30 points in a 66-47 win over Harbor Creek.
Malquan Pullium, Strong Vincent – Had 19 points as the Colonels beat Fort LeBoeuf 70-31.
Alex Borges, Mercyhurst Prep – Scored 19 points in a 64-55 win over Northwestern.
Dustin Pavlik, Saegertown – Had 21 points in an 80-54 win over Youngsville. He also ha d24 points in an 86-44 win over Cambridge Springs.
Jonathan Haenel, Corry – Scored 18 points in a 68-49 win over Fort LeBoeuf.
Scott Groenendaal, Seneca – Finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds in a 59-45 win over Iroquois.
Marc Corbin, Fairview – Had two big games including 17 points in a 43-36 win over Northwestern.
Kyree Kirkland, East - Scored a late basket on his way to 19 points in a 46-44 upset of Strong Vincent.

Girls basketball
Kate Powell, Commodore Perry – Scored 15 points in a 42-29 upset of Farrell. She also had 16 points in a 48-26 win over Jamestown.
McKenzie Popatak, Sharpsville – Had a double-double with 12 points and 17 rebounds in a 32-18 win over Greenville.
Alexis Arkwright, Mercer – Scored a career-high 33 points in a 50-32 win over West Middlesex. She also had 20 points in a 41-26 win against Wilmington.
Alanna Elliott, Wilmington – Had 18 points in a 56-34 win over Lakeview.
Holly Grober, Hickory – Finished with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 blocks in a 62-35 win over Cochranton.
Whitney Murray, Farrell – Scored 18 points in a 42-27 win over Rocky Grove.
Tanayja Sanders, Sharon – Had 21 points and 10 rebounds in a 59-26 win over Lakeview.
Tenasia Law, Franklin – Scored 14 points to lead the Knights to a key 53-42 win over Slippery Rock.
Corianne Hyduchak, Grove City – Had a season-high 17 points in a 53-30 win over Titusville.
Haley Angerett, Slippery Rock – Scored 17 points in a 49-24 win over Oil City.
Madison Bernarding, Cochranton – Had a career-high 32 points in a 65-22 win over Eisenhower.
Morgan Putnam, Villa Maria – The sophomore finished with 10 points in a win over Corry and scored 13 points against Harbor Creek.
Maria Welch, Girard – Scored 18 points in a 64-45 win over Sharon.
Alexa Bupp, Warren - Had 19 points in a 61-48 overtime upset of Mercyhurst Prep.
Theresa Fachetti, Harbor Creek – Finished with another big week. She had 16 points in a 59-21 win over Strong Vincent and nine in a 39-26 win over Corry.
Hailey Wilwohl, McDowell – Scored 19 points in an important 39-34 win over Central Tech.
Tori Prather, North East – Had a double-double with 10 rebounds and 15 points against Northwestern and hit several clutch free throws in a win over Seneca.
Lindsey Jahn, General McLane – Scored 16 points in a 72-14 win over Union City. She also scored 16 points in a 43-24 win over Fairview.
Abby Deemer, Fort LeBoeuf - Was 8-for-8 from the free throw line in overtime to help the Bison knock off Corry 49-40.

Boys swimming/diving
Tyler Lockhart, Oil City – Won four events, including the 100 free and the 100 back in a win over Hickory.
Phil Emerson, Franklin - Had four event wins in a win over Titusville. He also was a part of two Region 1 records in a win over Slippery Rock.
Jordan Caldwell, Grove City - Won three events in a win over Rocky Grove.
Robert Sikatzki, Fairview – Had four event wins in a dominant win over North East. He also won four events against General McLane.
Brent Benedict, Corry – Won four events in a win over Girard.
Drew Huey, Warren – Dominated in diving in a win over Strong Vincent.
Rex Riley, Cathedral Prep – Had three event wins in a win over McDowell.
Eric Zeigler, Meadville – Won four events in a win over Central Tech.
Lloyd Koester, General McLane – Had four event wins in a win over Union City.
Colt Olson, North East – Won four events in a win over Corry.
Griffin Schaetzle, Mercyhurst Prep – Finished with four events wins against Central Tech.

Girls swimming/diving
Laura Wilks, Titusville - Swam two PRs in a win over Oil City on senior night.
Katelyn Steigerwald, Franklin – Won four events in a win over Slippery Rock.
Lauren Decker, Grove City - Had four event wins in a win over Rocky Grove.
Kendall Sundberg, Fairview – Won four events in a win over North East.
Delaney Drushel, Girard – Had four event wins in a win over Corry.
Taylor Bean, Harbor Creek – Finished with three event wins in a win over Iroquois.
Elin Smith, Warren – Won four events in a win over Strong Vincent.
Abby Quinn, Villa Maria – Had four event wins in a historic win over McDowell.
Heather Sternby, Meadville – Won four events in a win over Central Tech.
McKenna Haskins, Union City – Had four event wins over General McLane.
Morgan Girts, North East – Finished with four event wins against Corry.
Clare Weisenfluh, Mercyhurst Prep – Won three events against Central Tech.

Wrestling
Tony Leonard, Commodore Perry – Recorded a pin for the Panthers in a 28-27 win over West Middlesex.
Jared Morrison, Cochranton – Had a 13-second pin in a 47-27 win over Lakeview.
Hunter Cook, Franklin - Picked up a pin as the Knights routed Oil City 58-15.
Andrew Bradley, McDowell – Had a pivotal 6-3 win at 195 pounds as the Trojans beat General McLane 34-19 in the District 10 Class AAA team championship.
Garrett Behringer, Northwestern – Picked up a crucial pin at 170 pounds to hold off Conneaut (Ohio).
Aaron Hoover, Youngsville – Earned a huge decision in the 132-pound bout as the Eagles beat Strong Vincent 27-24.
Tim Vargo, Union City – Had a 30-second pin in a 51-19 win over Girard.
Ossie Bowers, General McLane - Picked up pins in the D-10 AAA team semifinals and championship.
Jamar Henry, Reynolds – Won a close 5-3 match in the final bout to help the Raiders beat Fort LeBoeuf 28-24 in the D-10 AA team championship.
George McGuire, Fort LeBoeuf - Earned his 100th career win against Greenville in the D-10 AA team semifinals.
John Macken, Saegertown – Recorded a pin in the 220-pound bout of the D-10 AA consolation match.
