Erie Times-News Breakout Athlete of the Week nominees

Fans can vote for the Breakout Athlete of the Week on the top right corner of the page. Voting continues through Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. with the winners being featured in the Erie Times-News. Fans are encouraged to nominate athletes by 5 p.m. each Saturday by sending an e-mail to sports@timesnews.com. Athletes who have won this season are no longer eligible.

Boys basketball
Eugene Husband, Central Tech - Started a big week with 30 points in an 85-73 win over George Junior. He also had 29 points in an 87-77 win over McDowell.
Matthew Dogan, West Middlesex – Finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a 62-47 win over Lakeview. He also had 26 points in a 79-31 win over Greenville.
Trevor Clune, Meadville – Hit a 3 at the buzzer to send the game in overtime before the Bulldogs beat George Junior 70-68. Clune scored 25 points in the win. He also had 21 points in a 54-51 win over Franklin.
Jason Page, George Junior – Scored a career-high 32 points in a 70-68 double-overtime loss to Meadville.
Ryan Currie, Slippery Rock – Scored with 15 points second to give the Rockets a 54-52 win over Grove City.
Tyler Luchey, Sharpsville – Had 20 points in an 81-58 win over Cambridge Springs.
Marcus Sonoga, Hickory – Hit the game-winner in overtime as the Hornets beat Sharon 50-49.
Demetrius McClennan, VisionQuest – Finished with 24 points and 18 rebounds in an 80-48 win over Rocky Grove.
Garrett Adams, Cochranton – Had 18 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in a 65-45 win over Eisenhower.
Garrett Gannoe, Rocky Grove - Scored 18 points, had five assists and four steals in a 61-46 win over Youngsville.
Devon Geib, Oil City – Finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in a 64-40 win over Slippery Rock.
Jaymon Mason, General McLane – Scored 37 points in a key 64-53 win over Warren.
Joe Zoltowski, Harbor Creek – Had 19 points, six rebounds and five assists in a 47-34 win over Corry.
Joe Dunn, Girard - Scored 18 points in a 70-56 win over Strong Vincent. He also had 20 points and 12 rebounds in a 63-36 win over Fort LeBoeuf and 14 points and 10 rebounds in a 55-36 win over Harbor Creek.
Jacoby Passmore, Warren – Had 18 points in a 75-54 win over East.
Malquan Pullium, Strong Vincent – Scored 18 points in a 64-45 win over Harbor Creek.
Matt Harris, Cathedral Prep – Had 20 points in a 72-53 win over Canisius (N.Y.).
Andrew Niland, Fairview – Connected on six 3-pointers on his way to 22 points in a 48-39 upset of Mercyhurst Prep.
Corey Ciccarelli, Titusville – Scored four points in overtime as the Rockets held off North East 49-48.
Colton Edinger, Iroquois – Had 21 points and hit several clutch free throws in the second overtime as the Braves beat Northwestern 65-58.
Noah Uplinger, Conneaut – Scored 31 points in a 64-47 win over Cambridge Springs.

Girls basketball
Tanayja Sanders, Sharon – Finished with 20 points and nine rebounds in a 55-29 win over Greenville. She also had 22 points and 13 rebounds in a 54-39 win over Sharpsville.
Holly Grober, Hickory – Scored a career-high 31 points and had 10 rebounds, five steals and four assists in a 68-29 win over Titusville. She also had 20 points in a 63-42 win over Meadville and went over 1,000 points on Saturday.
McKenzie Popatak, Sharpsville – Had 31 points and 15 rebounds in a 56-22 win over Wilmington.
Megan McKinney, Mercer - Scored 21 points in a 61-21 win over Lakeview.
Angelina Starr, Franklin – Had 22 points in a 78-39 win over Oil City.
Amber Nerlich, Rocky Grove – Had 18 points in a 62-41 win over Jamestown.
Kendell Dickson, Cochranton – Scored a career-high 28 points in a 70-29 win over Youngsville.
Katie Teed, Seneca – Finished with 21 points in a 54-41 win over Fairview.
Maria Welch, Girard – Scored 16 points in a 64-30 win over Iroquois. She also had 15 points in a 38-30 win over Fairview.
Brianna Babb, Cambridge Springs – Had 15 points in a 45-40 win over Northwestern.
Lindsey Jahn, General McLane – Hit two clutch free throws to help the Lancers knock off North East 44-43.
Kaeshla Torres, Strong Vincent - Scored 10 points in her varsity debut as the Colonels won their first gsame 42-40 in overtime against Eisenhower.
Theresa Fachetti, Harbor Creek – Had 18 points in a 48-22 win over Fort LeBoeuf and 22 points in a 50-27 win over Cambridge Springs.
Karlee McBride, Villa Maria – Scored 14 points, including several clutch fourth-quarter buckets in a 36-23 win over rival Mercyhurst Prep.
Cassidy Taylor, Northwestern - Had 22 points in a 59-35 win over Union City.
Rosemary Campbell, Iroquois – Finished with 18 points and 16 rebounds in a 51-34 win over Conneaut (Ohio).
Cierra Stovall, East – Scored 15 points in a 44-40 upset of Central Tech.
Raven Rozantz, Fairview - had 12 points in a 44-33 win over Strong Vincent.

Boys swimming/diving
Phil Emerson, Franklin – Won four events in a win over Grove City.
John Miller, Oil City – Dominated with four event wins in a sweep of Farrell.
Dylan Prorok, Rocky Grove - Had three event wins against Sharon.
Christian Kreidinger, Central Tech – Won four events in a win over East and qualified for D-10 in the 50 free.
Justin Ditmore, General McLane - Picked up four wins in a split with Girard.
Chip Oberle, North East – Had four event wins against Harbor Creek.
Mike Borowski, Fairview – Won four events in a win over Union City.
Reid Morrison, Cathedral Prep – Finished with four wins in a win over Mercyhurst Prep.
Jack Mahoney, McDowell – Won four events in a win over Mercyhurst Prep.

Girls swimming/diving
Katelyn Steigerwald, Franklin – Had four event wins in a win over Grove City.
Michaela Streczywilk, Oil City – Finished with four wins in a sweep of Farrell.
Allie Sedon, Warren – Won the diving portion of two meets and set a PR in the 100 free.
Alexa Dunn, Girard – Had four event wins in a split with General McLane.
Ania Gorski, Harbor Creek – Won three events in a win over North East.
Jessica Cauley, McDowell – Won four events in a sweep of Meadville.
Stephanie Loesch, Fairview – Had four event wins in a win over Union City.
Kenzie Schley, Villa Maria – Won four events in a win over East.
Rylee Klomp, Mercyhurst Prep – Had four event wins in a win over McDowell.

Wrestling
Brandon Bittler, Sharon – Picked up a pin during a 51-21 win over West Middlesex.
James Wilkerson, Greenville – Earned a pin in a 45-24 win over Grove City.
Kyle Nuhfer, Maplewood – The freshman started a rally with a pin at 138 points as the Tigers beat Union City 42-31.
Tyler Carey, Franklin – Secured a thrilling win by earning a pin in the second to last bout of a 36-28 win over Lakeview.
Cam Cyphert, Cochranton – Improved to 23-1 with a pin during a 65-18 win over Fairview.
Logan Gray, North East – Is 24-3 this season and has wrestled well at the 113-pound level.
Dylan Reynolds, Saegertown – Earned a pin in the final match to give the Panthers a historic PIAA win in the preliminary round.
Trevor McCray, Girard – Had a pin in a 39-23 win over Strong Vincent.
Ta’Nauz Gregory, Cathedral Prep – Stopped Meadville’s momentum with a pin at 113 pound in a 41-21 win over the Bulldogs.
Austin Matthews, Reynolds – Was dominant throughout the week as the Raiders wrestled to second place in the state.
Scot Augustine, McDowell – Picked up several impressive PIAA wins including a 3-0 win in the final bout of a 31-24 win over North Allegheny.
Hunter Hendricks, General McLane - Earned a pin in 51 seconds to help the Lancers defeat Central Tech and win the Region 4 title.
Evan Daley, Fort LeBoeuf – Had a solid week during the PIAA team tournament.
