Outlook: Harbor Creek went through some big struggles in 2012. The Huskies beat Iroquois 13-0 to start the season before losing their final nine games. This year’s squad is looking for a turnaround but first priority will be replacing all of the offensive production loss to graduation. Jon Ward, Spencer Zeyfang, Jake Pound, Adam Renshaw, Anthony Concilla, Dave Lyon and Mark Fachetti are gone to graduation. Ward was voted to the all-region first team at defensive back and second team, while Zeyfang (defensive line) and Pound (linebacker) were second-team selections. Pound led the Huskies with 472 yards and five touchdowns on 120 carries and caught 11 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Ward led the Harbor Creek offense under center with 919 yards and seven touchdowns. With no quarterback and half of the rushing production gone, the Huskies will need to retool right away in training camp. Mitchell Fife is back this season after rushing for 204 yards last year, which was second for Harbor Creek. Malique Mitchell is also back as the Huskies’ leading receiver. He hauled in 25 passes for 329 yards and four touchdowns, while Dave Lyon had six catches for 101 yards. Casey Krotoszynski could see an increase in carries in the backfield. He was Harbor Creek’s third-leading rusher last year with 133 yards on 13 carries and one touchdown. The Huskies started handing the ball off to plenty of underclassmen last year. Harbor Creek needs a quarterback to separate himself from the pack and he will have plenty of backs to hand off to. The Huskies will get training camp and their first game at Iroquois to build chemistry before region play kicks in with a brutal stretch of Fort LeBoeuef, North East, Northwestern, Girard and Fairview. Harbor Creek will need the younger players to step up this fall to avoid another one-win season.
