The late Pat DiPaolo, who had professional connections with Central Tech and East high schools during his career, was honored by each in a ceremony held before Saturday’s football game between the Falcons and Warriors at Veterans Stadium.
DiPaolo, a 1987 Cathedral Prep graduate, died Aug. 22 at age 44. He went on to coach football at Central Tech from 1999 to 2002 before moving on to the school administration ranks. He was East’s principal at the time he was forced to retire because of an extended illness.
Members of the DiPaolo family were on hand for the ceremony. It included the announcement that East retired its No. 1 football jersey in his name.
