Friends of the Library need help moving books

books1The Friends of the Library work year round to collect and sort books in preparation for the Erie County Library’s annual book sale and various small sales throughout the year, and moving books is a vital part of the process. Library discards and books donated by Erie County residents are moved from the library and collection sites to a warehouse for sorting. Once sorted into categories, the books are moved again to a storage trailer where they await the annual Great American Book Sale.

A few volunteers have taken the responsibility for all the book moving over the past few years, and they need some help.

The Friends are looking for a few people who have the time and strength to occasionally move books. Boxes of books weigh between 50 and 75 pounds. Those interested in getting more information about what’s required to help should call Bob Gallivan at 454-6770 or Marcy Bencivenga at 476-1971.books2
